Publisher's summary
In 1995, Cal Ripken, Jr. succeeded in toppling baseball’s most unbreakable streak of 2,130 consecutive games played. He has also won the 1982 Rookie of the Year Award, two American League MVP awards, an All-Star Game MVP award, two Gold Gloves, and a World Series title.
This is the story of Junior’s ascent to superstardom. What was it like playing baseball with a father as manager and a brother as a double-play combination? How did his father’s firing and his brother’s trade affect him? What made him choose the strike over the Streak? His story captures the grit and determination it took to become one of the greatest shortstops ever to play the game of baseball.

These deeply-ingrained habits lead them to make mistakes. The problem is that these situations won't often arise at the table by chance - you have to make them happen. Exploitative Play in Live Poker is a ground-breaking work that teaches you how to create the circumstances where your opponents will be likely to blunder and how to exploit them when they do.

When Ball Four was published in 1970, it created a firestorm. Bouton was called a Judas, a Benedict Arnold and a “social leper” for having violated the “sanctity of the clubhouse.” Baseball commissioner Bowie Kuhn tried to force Bouton to sign a statement saying the book wasn’t true. Ballplayers, most of whom hadn’t read it, denounced the book. It was even banned by a few libraries. Almost everyone else, however, loved Ball Four.

Love Cal’s Story but Not a Fan of the Reader
Cal Ripken has a great story to tell. This one might have been better to read instead of listen to. Narrator Ian Esmo was NOT the right person for this audiobook. It was equally annoying listening to him mispronounce names and attempting to use feminine voices and voice overs as it was listening to stats and dates read out loud. I couldn’t wait for this one to end…. even when I already knew the ending!
