Publisher's Summary

From the CEO of Microsoft, Satya Nadella, an inspiring account of the transformation of an organisation and the coming transformation of humanity.

As told by Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, Hit Refresh is the story of corporate change and reinvention as well as the story of Nadella's personal journey, one that is taking place today inside a storied technology company, and one that is coming in all of our lives as intelligent machines become more ambient and more ubiquitous. It's about how people, organisations and societies can and must hit refresh - transform - in their persistent quest for new energy, new ideas, relevance and renewal.

At the core it's about us humans and our unique qualities, like empathy, which will become ever more valuable in a world where the torrent of technology will disrupt like never before. As much a humanist as a technologist, Nadella defines his mission and that of the company he leads as empowering every person and every organisation on the planet to achieve more.

Great and thought-inspiring book

A great view into the mind of the person driving a great cultural transformation in one of the largest tech companies. Not only his thoughts are applicable for businesses, but also can be related to from personal life perspective.

The narrator was easy to listen, and it was great to hear Satya himself too.

Overall, I'm glad I've read/heard the book.

Refreshingly candid!

A genuine account of the road travelled so far by CEO Satya Nadella. No buzz words, no rhetoric and in no way a statement that his quest here is complete. A thoroughly enjoyable listen and an insight into the man at the helm of Microsoft - overseeing 100,000 employees spread across 190 countries. An honest, family man with relatable core values and empathy at the heart of everything he does... empowering every person and every organisation on the planet to do more.

A very human voice from the world of technology

Some will value every page of this book, but there’s more than enough variety of content to interest every reader at least in part. Policy makers and business leaders might want to read the latter chapters sooner rather than later!

Thought provoking

A well written (and read) effort reflecting on the journey of Microsoft as it happens. Not often are we allowed such an unrivalled view into a turnaround programme at a global organisation as it happens. Satya provides and honest and reflective view of his tenure.

Inspiring

The book is in three sections- Satya’s background and influences, his vision as Microsoft CEO and approach to large scale organisational culture change, and finally, reflections on the future for technology and possible impacts on society. The only reason I gave this four rather than five stars is because the last bit of the book became quite dry. It was good to hear that all proceeds from this book will be invested in broader societal improvement programmes.

Informative, moving, inspiring

It is rare to find a book of such depth from a CEO of a multinational enterprise, and in itself highlights the evolving role of business leaders in the new global landscape.

Quite inspiring...

Never heard anyone repeatedly assert their being CEO of a company like a mantra as he did in this book.

I guess Satya Nadella wants to assure everyone that he's in charge and that he's not a puppet of Bill Gates. I just feel that it's unnecessarily obvious because he's leading Microsoft in an entirely different direction than the other 2 CEOs before him. Microsoft is more respected now as a technology company under him than at anytime in the company's history. That in itself is already marvelous achievement.

Not even an average book!

Would you try another book written by Satya Nadella and Bill Gates - foreword or narrated by Satya Nadella and Shridhar Solanki ?

Prob not by Satya, maybe Bill Gates.

What could Satya Nadella and Bill Gates - foreword have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

The storyline is missing, Satya takes you different direction every paragraph and after 10 minutes you get vertigo.

Did Satya Nadella and Shridhar Solanki do a good job differentiating each of the characters? How?

Not, Satya didn't do a good job!

You didn’t love this book--but did it have any redeeming qualities?

no, It seems someone writing day to day memo and what's going on his daily basis.

Any additional comments?

very disappointed!

Inspiring

An inspiring and insightful account of his work. Though some part is very microsoft-centric. However, can be used to learn on how to refresh a company/corporation even one as big as Microsoft.
