i enjoyed listening thru this audio book every chapter was fresh relevant descriptions of Amish life the best and the worst but also the tensions within and from the outside world it comes right up to date in 2015 in my neighborhood in heuvelton ny

Didn't even know it was a tv show.

Okay book. Lots of interesting points. A bit repetative and dull, but also somewhat intriguing.

What did you like best about this story?

Very good, informative history. The author tells how Amish people interface with the 21st Century. Keeping culture and tradition relevant to a generation facing unprecedented challenges against the importance of tradition is a relatable problem to many of us.

Any additional comments?

After listening to over half the book, we you-tubed past episodes of Amish Mafia, which I had not heard of before this. I had to double check to confirm it was the same author! The show was nothing like the thoughtful, informative book and, sorry to say, pretty trashy.

Captivating and Disturbing

I listened to this almost straight through. This book is Heartbreaking in detail and full of horrific events.

Absolutely Love LOVE LOVE LEBANON LEVI! I live in bucks county, pa and my family owned a vacation home in Lancaster County. I've always been fascinated by the Amish and their families and children. I think all cultures have their own way of protecting their own. Because the Amish can not call the police (I'm all for that belief myself unless someone is in serious danger) so having Lebanon levi there to protect the businesses and the people is soooo awesome. I love the idea of an Amish mafia. levi is just so passive aggressive it's almost "hot". I told my husband I want that bumper sticker "I'm protected by Lebanon Levi!" Great book Levi. I think it was super courageous of you to write this book despite the threats and all the negative backlash. I think you should be made KING Of the AMISH. YA HEARD THAT GOV. CORBIN or whatever ur name is. In conclusion Levi I'd like to say to you don't worry about no hater that's a haters job to hate. If you have 50 haters today god bless you.... you need to show them what a bad ass mafia boss you are and have 75 haters by tomorrow. my entire family thinks you rock. I will miss Amish mafia so so bad. we wish you all the luck, happiness, and love in the world. thanks for a fabulous read. Lessons about the Amish

I learned from the book about the Amish and their culture and customs. It cleared up some of my misunderstands about the Amish and made me have empathy for them.
I hope that someday they will live the way God meant for them live. Free and in a relationship with Him. Not all the rules, fears and bondage.

Supporting a modern hero

You go Levi! So well written. I'm a 66 year old conservative and agree with Levi's choices. Levi, you stayed true to your own beliefs and you prayed and studied about them. You should be proud of not following blindly without gaining self knowledge. I will keep your book and re-read when I need encouragement. God bless you.
