Remember to Adapt for Your Own Body

I really appreciate the concept of this series. Physical unwinding--even simple stretching--is an effective way to get out of your head and discover just how tight you are when it's critical to let go. Good sleep is impossible when you're throbbing with tension.

That said, I wish these sessions were longer and slower--and that the volume could be the same in every segment so I don't have to break my concentration and adjust the volume every night.

I survived a three-car pile-up after being hit from behind by a truck. This accident left me with two broken vertebrae in my back, seven herniated discs, a severe contre coup closed head injury with seizures, and months of double vision and debilitating headaches. Prior to this accident I was an exercise fanatic, delighting daily in my own endorphins with aerobics, cycling, yoga, Pilates, dance, swimming and sculling.

Learning to accept that I would never be the same person with the same capacities was the most difficult lesson during my years of healing. While I regained a surprising degree of strength and flexibility, I have to be extra conscious of how every movement is affecting my spine. So I have learned to adapt each yoga pose for my current needs.

One of my doctors gave me hope when I was extremely depressed at losing my ultra-fit conditioning. He cited medical studies that show people can exert physical change by simply visualizing intricately detailed exercise in real time; the mind barely distinguishes between "real" and "imagined" if the imagined exercise is concentrated, absorbing, and involves all the senses. So if you imagine going for a run, with your legs warm, your steps rhythmic, your breathing in sync with your pace, you will attain real biomechanical and hormonal changes in your brain.

So I practice virtual biking, dancing, running--and yoga with this free Audible series. Sometimes I perform each pose in real space, and sometimes I just listen, feeling them in intense detail in my mind if I have pushed my body too hard that day. The best part? They work well, either way. My neck relaxes, my bad hip spasms and releases, and afterwards I am definitely more comfortable and ready to drift off to my current sleep book! Give this series a try...but customize specific poses for your unique body.

Good Evening Wind Down

This is a very good evening wind down (and my first experience using any of MoveWith's audio products). Be aware that it is not designed for extreme beginners. Knowledge of basic yoga poses is assumed (downward-facing-dog, tabletop, child's pose, and happy baby specifically came up). Modifications to those poses is described, and there's enough specificity there to help jog the memory if you can't remember a pose exactly (I had happy baby mixed up with something else, and was able to get to the correct posture based on the verbal reminders), but I doubt it would be enough for someone completely unfamiliar with the poses to figure them out. Recommended for people with enough yoga experience to follow, based on posture names, who are looking for an evening wind-down.

Totally yawning

I’m not a yogi per se but I do understand the scientific magic of yoga. I know enough to follow these pretty easily. Idk how but by the second or third pose I was totally yawning. By the end, I barely wanted to get off the floor I was so relaxed. It’s magic. The morning yoga one is too. Seriously these might be enough to make me keep my Audible subscription way longer than intended.

Yoga for dummies kinda beginner.. was able to follow the instructions and keep up for the most part but there were some pose's that could be better described for super novices like me

Great but not for beginners

These are short, sweet yoga sessions. They are audio, though, so if you are new to yoga, you will be lost.
I've been practicing for 20 years and I have to really listen. That's an excellent silver lining, of course. 😉
Great when you are in a time crunch.

perfect way to end the day

I started this a few weeks ago and it's really gotten me ready for a restful nights sleep. I'm an author and I still write a bit after this pratice but not as long as I did before starting it. Now I may write for 15 to 30 minutes after doing the bedtime yoga whereas before it could be hours. My brain never really stops as characters pop in and out but this helps me focus and shut them out so I can sleep.

Relaxing flows that help me settle down for sleep

Soothing and wonderful. Love the soft calm of Kilty's voice but especially loved the Sunset Letting Go Flow with Alexa. Exactly the practice I needed to stretch my body and settle down for sleep. Thank you MoveWith!
