Publisher's Summary

Best-selling author Lexi Blake’s heartfelt contemporary romance set in Louisiana’s Butterfly Bayou.

Roxanne King left the big city looking for a simpler life, but after years of proving herself on a SWAT team in New York City, being deputy in a sleepy Louisiana parish is something of an adjustment. She’s settling in, but she knows she made some mistakes in the beginning - Zep Guidry being the worst of them. Zep drifts through life on his looks and Cajun charm. Roxie learned the hard way that he’s not for her.

Zep is a man who knows what he wants, and what he wants is Roxie. He’s just not sure how to get her. They spent one hot night together a year before, and now all the lovely deputy seems interested in doing to him is arresting him. He’s not used to a woman he can’t charm, but Roxie seems immune. He’s determined to win her back by any means necessary - including becoming the kind of man she desires.

And when Roxie’s past comes calling, it might be the opportunity Zep needs to show Roxie that the town bad boy might just be the man of her dreams.

Great series.

I love anything Lexi Blake. I have been waiting for Zep to get his own story since Close Cover, and boy it was worth the wait!! Roxy and Zep have been dancing around each other for over a year and it was amazing to watch them fall In Love. Always believed that there was more to Zep then we knew but I had no idea of the depth of character he had or what he sacrificed for his family. I love Roxy and I was glad we finally got to know her however I could do without her family. But Roxy and Zep together are magical.

Sweet & Steamy with a side of Crazy

This series is sweet & steamy with a side of crazy- something Lexi Blake/Sophie Oak is well known for. I love this bayou town that reminds me so much of Bliss, Co. A woman would be crazy to leave!

Zep is the GOAT!

I loved this so hard and I’m agonizing over the fact that I don’t get to go back to Papillon until July! Zep was MY FAVORITE! So sweet and loving and self-sacrificing … he’s my fave male protagonist in a while. I love this series and Bayou Dreaming is the best book in a series that just keeps getting better and better. 5 out of 5 wine glasses

Love Zep!

For two books I have thought there was so much more to Zep than we were being allowed to see. He came off as the shiftless, hard drinking, player, but then all of a sudden he was dispensing some awesome insights. Things just weren't adding up for me about this character. Now that I got to read his book - I WAS RIGHT! His reputation was all gossip. He was really a really deep guy with lots of love, loyalty, and insight to offer. So much more than just a pretty face. I think Zep has become a new forever book boyfriend, he is so awesome. Roxy wasn't too shabby either. I like how she finally "found herself" in this book. Great read/listen. BTW - Jessica Almasy did an outstanding job on this. Going from Zep's southern drawl to Roxy's Bronx accent was brilliantly done. Neither was overdone, but just enough for the careful listener to pick up on. Good job!

Another Winner

This series is excellent. Once again Lexi takes us on a journey to a town of crazy characters with heart , humour & love. A place where I would love to visit. Zep & Roxie true characters are revealed piece by piece and their true strengths are revealed chapter by chapter. The narration is perfection and brings the ensemble of town charcters to life, a great pairing for this series. Highly recommend. Anything with Lexi Blake's name on it is an automatic must buy for me.

I loved everything about this book -

...the setting - not one I know - the people, the humour and the reader, who is, to me, perfect.

awesome narrartion

I'm so glad I decided to give Lexie Blake another go. this was because the book I've just listened to was in a completely different genre.
I normally like the Black Ops titles and thats what Lexie Blake does but I didn't like the first one I picked up so I passed and decided that I would try this one. I'm so glad I found this series because the narrator Jessica is absolutely perfect she does so many different voices and that Southern accent makes me laugh all the time. the material she has to work with is of course the brilliant writings of Lexie and I never really laugh out loud with some books but with this one I had some fun listening. Zep is an awesome character in book 1 and I was happy to read his story in this book. Lexie was clever with his history and it panned out beautifully in this plot line.
the underlying tone of the book and what it stands for in regards to strong women in men's jobs and way they can influence other younger women was done with a softer approach to a serious topic.
I've listened to 2 sets of series of Southern type books of late, the previous one was by Molly Harper and it was called mystic bayou. one of the characters in that novel was called Zed and he was just a celerius as zep.
all in all this novel and it's predecessor we're fantastic for a nice entertaining listen of everyday life in a small town in Louisiana with an awesome narrator doing an awesome job . there was romance there was fun there was comedy there was a little steam, a bit of hold your breath will she or when she and plenty of I don't like this person and I do like that person definitely worth having a Read.

Wow

Lexi does it again. Loved the emotion that went into this book about how not many saw Zep, and how he saw Roxie. Love Lexi’s book that have this much emotion and seeing eyes through gestures rather then words. Great read.
Narration was awesome too.
