Publisher's Summary

What are you waiting for? NA paranormal fantasy at its best from international best seller Tara Brown. This is the series that started it all, and this is the book that lets you see behind the curtain.

"Ari, this is Aimee James. She's different, like you." The old lady smiled brightly. "Until you get to know each other, I wouldn't go holding hands. Who knows what'll happen."

Something powerful, dark, and dangerous lurks inside of young Ari. She's the queen of self-control and commitment until suddenly she isn't.

Ari finds herself transformed and alone in a dark alley in the north instead of the sunny south. Her soft, black hair is shaved. Her face is marred with piercings, and she has more tattoos than the cook back home. In fact she is a different Ari altogether. Different memories and a different past. And a death still warming her fingertips.

When Aimee meets the street urchin Lydia drags home, she's not prepared for the friendship that will blossom as Ari opens up about who and what she is - something very few have ever seen. Ari can do things that give Aimee hope. She can send people back to a time when a choice made them who they have become. For Aimee that sounds just like salvation.

not too bad

I found the story a bit confusing, jumping back and forth all the time. Sometimes I get the feeling the author doesn't properly communicate the plot. But I did enjoy it and I'm starting on the next one

I slowly got through this dreaded book. I just couldn’t relate with her character. Took me 2 months to finally finish it!
She was super cringy and annoying! I’m just glad it’s over!! On to the next!! FINALLY!

almost didn't get this one because I saw a lot of reviews saying it was hard to follow. That wasn't the case for me. I really enjoyed this book.

Just wow!

Where had this book been hiding. I thought I would hate going to new character after Amy’s story but my mind is blown. My new favorite book. A little Xman, a little darkness. Severe emotional roller coaster and the characters all change again and again. Just wow!!! With double the credits.

Story Progression at Solid Pace

unlike the first book, this one flows nicely and is believable in most places. Except for like Aymie putting on her best voice to trick her father....Also Aery ran away a few too many times. Besides that, tge story is unfolding nicely.
