Between northerner incursions, political pressure, and the constant risk of being crushed by forces far larger than himself, Ludger carves out a new role, not as a sheltered prodigy, but as a builder of foundations. Stone by stone, contract by contract, he steps into a future where survival means leadership, and power means responsibility.

I enjoy the book almost too much angst in decision making and the mc is definitely not utilizing his power to its fullest.

Great series so far

this book would have a perfect review if the character used all the skills he has at his disposal instead of one at a time. With that being said the story is excellent the readers are great and I am very excited for the next book

Not using all the skills

I love this series. It started out using and remembering the details of the characters but as it goes on, Ludgar doesn't use some of the skills that come to my mind to use. And, why didn't he heal Lord Tarvaris? He is a needed character and he is needed strong. The ending was great and I hope everything works out.

It is a good story and performance, but...

I think the story was good, but the writer had a very bad habit of repeating things over and over, and this book could have been about four hours shorter because of the repeated statements that feel almost like they are copied and pasted to increase the length. The battles are way too long and overdescribed, and they made me almost stop listening a few times. Overall, some sections were completely too much.
If you eliminate those sections, you have a good, enjoyable story.

Great story and voice.

This is a well done book. The voice actor really brought it to life. I will say, the stats don't always make sense, but it is on point with the story and keeps you on the edge of your seat.
