What begins as a reckless attempt to impose order on chaos becomes the birth of a guild forged by necessity rather than ambition. Between northerner incursions, political pressure, and the constant risk of being crushed by forces far larger than himself, Ludger carves out a new role, not as a sheltered prodigy, but as a builder of foundations. Stone by stone, contract by contract, he steps into a future where survival means leadership, and power means responsibility.

Because if the world insists on marching toward war, Ludger refuses to stand still, no matter how scary his mother is when she thinks he's in danger.

much better than expected

picked up in desperation and was pleasantly surprised. good pacing, nice progression. i look forward to the other books being recorded

It is a good story and performance, but...

I think the story was good, but the writer had a very bad habit of repeating things over and over, and this book could have been about four hours shorter because of the repeated statements that feel almost like they are copied and pasted to increase the length. The battles are way too long and overdescribed, and they made me almost stop listening a few times. Overall, some sections were completely too much.
If you eliminate those sections, you have a good, enjoyable story.

Interesting world building but...

The story so far is fun and nothing feels like over extending past the established rules of the world.

But the one thing that just always bothers me is that the chapter titles are wrong. Example of what I mean that is in this audio book is its chapter 10 but labeled as chapter 11. It seems like a small thing but shouldn't be an issue that i come across as often as I do.
