Side-Splitting Paranormal Comedy

This second book in the series was so much fun and packed with laugh-out-loud moments—truly side-splitting at times. The story follows a very reluctant, extremely bad-at-it vampire whose accidental turning puts him on a collision course with a seasoned vampire hunter who expects a monster and gets… anything but. Their dynamic is hilarious and completely carried the book.

The narration by John Solo was well done and added even more humor to an already entertaining listen.

Charlie is sweet in the he needs a break and someone to pat him on the head. Simon is his perfect foil even if he thinks he's the good guy. And just about everyone else was perfectly creepy. Don't get me wrong, there are some good people but so much of the book becomes a who can you trust or can you trust anyone.
John Solo does an excellent job.

This story is both what I expected and absolutely not what I expected. The blurb makes the story sound sweet and silly and comedic and there are plenty of those moments. But after the turning point of the book, things go a bit crazy and I have been on the edge of my seat. Since that time, I have no idea what to expect from the ending and it is certainly not 100% predictable like some stories, but that's not a bad thing.

The story was incredibly engaging and surprisingly entertaining. I believe this is the first book I've read from Silvana falcon, so I've had several of her stories on my TBR for a while. I know I have the first book in this supernatural suckers series to read, but I'm kind of curious to see how the series will continue and how much Noah plays a part in it.
It's always entertaining to experience a new author and the way they write their stories because the environment is what really stands out to me as the initial focal point and the environment that Charlie and Simon are part of in this story is so detailed and visual and it really makes it feel like you're there with the characters no matter what they're doing. It's an important side character for authors too consider and I loved the way that it was presented in this book.
The worlds wimpiest vampire was a low angst plot driven paranormal action romance although the romantic side of things is very slow burn. But I had a lot of fun learning about these characters and watching them develop their complex feelings. They were quite a few little twists and turns in the story, but it kept me fully engaged and on the edge of my seat. It's a great read, especially if you enjoy some infused humor with your paranormal complexities.

In a completely random unrelated note, I enjoyed finding out that Charlie's fantasy novel collection contains a story. I've not heard many people know of called the name of the wind. It's a pretty niche novel, although it does have a following, but it was kind of surprising to see it, especially by name as one of the books on his shelf. Just random commentary there.

Audiobook Update (Jan 2026)

This was an incredible audiobook to experience. I've not heard many narrated by John Solo, so his performance was also a great listen. He really captured the MCs' personalities and pulled them right out of the book. I had fun reading the e-book, but listening to the audiobook was another grand adventure. It pulled me in just as much as the readthrough, and I couldn't stop listening until it was completed, all in one day (9hrs). I loved the intensity that John gave the characters and the action that we get to experience in the story. I knew what was going to happen and I was still on the edge of my seat while listening. It was a fantastic way to relive the hilarious romance between Simon & Charlie.

MM Enemies to Lovers Adorkable

Someone just tried to bundle a meet cute vampire story with a Vampire hunter secret ruthless organization out to slay all vampires regardless. And what comes out is just adorkable. Charlie is totally inept as an accidentally turned vampire who has been living off ketchup packets for three weeks because he faints at the sight of blood. And what vampire turns into a prey animal? Simon is the hunter and he is tasked with slaying the brutal vampire killer Charlie Dracul. It doesn’t take long after meeting Charlie for the first time to realize this guy wouldn’t hurt a fly and someone is setting him up. Lot of twists and turns in this one. Great character building. True love and an HEA. Oh, and Noah is back. I’m all in. I’m also a true Audiophile. And anything John Solo narrates is pretty perfect. Even though Charlie is wimpy he finds some backbone. And John does Simon to a T!

Audiobook (Audible) ARC - such a phenomenal vampire romance novel. The humor throughout really helps to lighten the overall dark theme and story plot. Charlie is turned into a vampire as a joke and struggles to eat his new diet due to his hemophobia. Simon has been given information that Charlie is a menace to society and a super dangerous vampire. After his initial observations of Charlie, Simon realizes something is amiss and discovers the dark truth of his organization in his mission to save his mark Charlie from unnecessary death.

The author does a great job to combine the darker themes with the lighter humorous situations Charlie finds himself in to make the overall feel less gloomy. John Solo does a great job narrating both POV's and the varying voices for each character for easy distinguishment while listening. The speed and pronunciation is clear and concise not requiring rewinds to re-hear parts of the narration.
