Hell's most incompetent demon meets Earth's most hopeless romantic.
All Ethan wanted was someone who could help him find love—or at least someone to pop his cherry. A spell from an odd book he found at the library promised him a wish from Cupid. Sure, some of the ingredients weren't easy to get, but he could improvise. Was there really that much difference between dried laurel leaves and coriander?
He never meant to summon a demon.
Malphas hasn't been to Earth in a hundred years, not since he accidentally created a massively successful support group for gamblers and saved hundreds of souls from damnation. As punishment, he's stuck in Hell's archives filing dusty prophecies because his boss is convinced he's incapable of being properly evil.
When Ethan's summoning yanks him topside, he sees his chance to prove himself. He'll make a deal with the human—and collect that blindingly bright soul.
All he has to do is to help Ethan get together with his crush.
What could possibly go wrong?
Low angst, high comedy m/m romance. HEA guaranteed, no break-ups, no cheating.

The audio version was even better! The narrator had some fun with the voicing in this one, and it worked so well. His timing was perfect for the comedy, and it was easy to simply be swept away into the story. Beautiful job author and narrator, both!
Endearing and funny, Perfect Paranormal Rom-Com

Mal is accidentally summoned by Ethan, who hoped Cupid could help his long term crush fall in love with him. Mal agrees, and shenanigans ensue. While Mal tries to honor their original contract, he inadvertently helps Ethan learn to be confident, and falls in love along the way.
John Solo narrated the audiobook, and his performance was on point. He was able to bring so much emotion to the story and made the characters so much more dynamic.
This is a light and easy read with fantastic world building and character development, the tiniest amount of angst, and a great flow and pace to the plot. I’m excited to see what the next book has in store!.

🧠💘 Fluffy, awkward, and neurodivergent-core with a demon who’s bad at being bad and a crush that doesn’t quite crush
This book is like a warm hug from your favorite chaotic friend who accidentally summoned a demon while trying to manifest a date. Hell’s Most Incompetent Demon is a sweet, low-stakes rom-com with a supernatural twist, and I adored every awkward second of it.
We’ve got Ethan, a painfully shy librarian who’s neurodivergent-coded in the most endearing way. He’s got a crush, a spellbook, and absolutely no idea what he’s doing which is relatable content. Enter Malphas (Mal), a demon who’s been banished to Hell’s archives for being too nice and too helpful. Think: the HR rep of the underworld who accidentally started a support group and got punished for it. Iconic.
Together, they stumble through a magical mishap that’s more meet-cute than menacing. The plot is simple and predictable, but that’s part of the charm. It’s the kind of story that doesn’t ask you to solve riddles or track ten subplots it just wants you to smile and maybe swoon a little.
✨ Why it worked for me:
- Neurodivergent nerd energy: Ethan’s inner monologue is awkward, earnest, and so real.
- Mal is a cinnamon roll in demon cosplay: He’s bad at being evil and good at being soft.
- Narration: The audiobook pacing is smooth, the tone matches the fluff, and it’s easy to binge.
- Vibes: Cozy, quirky, and perfect for decompressing after a heavy read.
- Bonus emotional twist: Mal’s long-standing crush on Noah turns out to be more fantasy than reality. Watching him realize that the person he idolized isn’t actually what he wants? Chef’s kiss. It’s a gentle, affirming moment that adds depth without drama.
This is not a book for people who want high drama or complex world-building. But if you’re craving something light, funny, and emotionally safe this is your demon-summoning comfort read. I’d recommend it to anyone who’s bogged down by angst and just wants a little joy with their chaos.
