When a mysterious magic shop owner draws the lucky tarot Star card for me, I drop everything and hop on a plane to Scotland for the bucket-list trip of a lifetime. Outlander (and Highlander, for my fellow nerds), eat your heart out! But instead of my constant bad luck finally turning to good, chaos ensues from the moment I arrive, and sketchy creeps keep following me everywhere. Then a smoking hot gargoyle-slash-Highland warrior swoops (literally) in to rescue me—and in a super sexy kilt, no less. Swoon!
Who cares about the threats to my life and my newfound magical abilities when I’ve met the man—I mean gargoyle—of my dreams? But Elryk DarkWing isn’t as thrilled as I am to find out he’s my fated mate, and trying to win his heart might be my biggest challenge yet. That’s okay though, because I believe in destiny—and he’s mine.
Elryk DarkWing
Guarding a powerful magic ley line in the heart of the Highlands has been the responsibility of the DarkWing clan for centuries. This wasn’t the path I’d wanted for my life, but here I am. That is, until my fated mate shows up, an attractive wee human with a surprising ability and all kinds of trouble hot on his heels.
My clan is thrilled but I’m less enthused. Can such a delicate being survive among battle-hardened gargoyles that risk life and limb every time there’s a threat to the ley line we protect? Can he adapt to this isolated life, removed from most of human society? Answer—not bloody likely. And Noah’s unique power has drawn the unwanted attention of friend and foe alike.
Accepting our mate bond in the midst of all this is complicated enough, but I soon realize keeping Noah safe is a Herculean task I might not be ready for. I won’t back down though, because this sweet man is starting to make me believe that true love exists and our destiny together might just be written in the stars…

When the author says "this book contains more movie references than you can shake a stick at" she's not lying. I can't express how much fun this book was and how the narrator brought it to life. That Scottish brogue, sigh.
This story left me happy and feeling good. Hold on to your hats everyone, you're in for a treat.
A human whose luck always seems to be bad, a grumpy gargoyle, a fortuitous stop at The Magic Shop, a bucket list trip to Scotland, a goddess's promise, fated mates
“I’m sure there’s a country music song out there that would fit this moment perfectly right about now.”

Chloe had paired with Gary Furlong for this audiobook and dang a match made in Scotish heaven! Gary nails the entire cast spectacularly making a fun book even better! I hope to see more of this author/narrator in the future!
When you pick up a Chloe Archer book, expect chaos with love and action. With her addition to the Tales of the Tarot collection, you have just that and so much more. Noah has been plagued with bad luck his whole life until he happens to come upon the Magic Shop. Where the Star major arcana card is drawn and Noah knows it's time to follow his dreams.
This time, we get to head to Scotland and the DarkWing Castle. You may remember hearing of Elyrk in the Gargoyle and His Romance Writer of his older brother Elryk. Now it's his turn to get his fated mate in the amazingly bubbly Noah. be prepared for all the movie and TV references their are a lot, and they make his personality all the more loveable. The action is nonstop, leaving you to wonder how this will all play out in the end. As with all Chloe reads now, a certain best friend and loyal legend need their stories as well. Hint hint nudge nudge. I will read those immediately!

Gary Furlong absolutely nailed the narration. His accents, pronunciation, pacing, inflection, just everything. I laughed so hard at parts and it was partly due to his delivery of the lines.
Nasser and Braewyn absolutely need books now!!
Outstanding story and narration

Elryk was a bit of a growly-grump- but he had so much responsibility solely on his shoulders and devoted his whole life to protecting his clan. Until he met his mate in Noah and finally wanted something for himself. I liked that he had his own insecurities and worries about being chosen back. It made him more relatable.
The chemistry between the two of them was scorching hot. I loved the way Noah would flirt with and tease Elryk. It was especially fun when they first met and Noah was drunk.
I loved the supporting characters- from the other gargoyles, to the group of sexy Scotsmen from the train, to the little brownie Eleanor.
Braewyn was my favorite of them all. He was funny and I loved how he and Noah just clicked. Loved how he'd tease Elryk, as well as be his wingman. I hope he'll get his own book!
Nasser was so sweet. His story was also a little sad for his loneliness. I loved his initial scenes meeting Noah and when a bit of his insecurities shown through. I can't wait until the poor guy gets his book and meets his mate! He definitely deserves it!
I was also very curious about Elryk's outcast cousin, Sorwyn. I'm dying for his story and to learn more about him than the little we got.
The killer sheep scene nearly killed me I was laughing so hard! I love all the Goliath/Gargoyles references as I am a huge Gargoyles fan. I had such a big grin whenever Noah mentioned Goliath. I would honestly love bonus scenes with Elryk watching Gargoyles and Lord of the Rings for the first time and seeing his reaction.
This was such a beautiful romance, an adventure discovering found family and a new home in a brand new world of magic. I really fell in love with the DarkWing Clan and hope there will be many more stories there to come! I was completely and utterly hooked.
I listened to this audiobook narrated by Gary Furlong and my God he was fantastic! I continually forgot he was one person voicing everyone because he did so many distinct voices and the accents were perfect. I LOVED the energy he put into it. Elryk's very sexy growl when he got possessive. The happy squeal when Noah got really excited-
'I inhale sharply. “You’re gonna introduce me to Nessie!” My excited squeal echoes throughout the cavernous Great Hall, and I try to tamp it down a little.'
That line was delivered so adorably I listened to it three times.
He was a true joy to listen to. I was even impressed I could tell Elryk and Braewyn apart both with their Scottish accents. I've only listened to him narrate one other book and thought it was amazing, but this one really highlighted his skill as a narrator. I'm going to be hunting for more of his work for sure!
