For subjects of the impervious project, what doesn't kill them actually does make them stronger. Children purchased in their youth are involuntary subjects of a dragonblood transfusion, which gave them unexpected results where they developed adaptive imperviousness. They'd be unstoppable.

Ven Yashke is a boy genius who's about to attend Harvard Medical when a mysterious woman arrives at his home, offering to share information regarding the sudden death of his parents. He suspects they were murdered, but nobody believes him except for her.

But there's a kicker.

He must help her take down the facility running these illegal dragonblood tests, but the facility is through a portal to a whole different world, one that he's been to before without even knowing.

He wonders what lengths he would go to in order to get the answers he seeks.

Voice actor was very entertaining and engaging. The hook at the beginning is a strong pull into a very quick and intense story. I got through this so fast and was begging for more! The hook is barely answered in this book and I didn't realize or mind really because I was so involved with the rest of the story and characters we get to meet. A absolute must read and a great listen.

Best fantasy book I've read recently

The end was good. It left me wanting more. I wish we had learned more about the missing parents. Seemed both a major part of the story and yet almost an after thought at the same time. I would try the second book once available but if it’s not good I wouldn’t continue the series.

The end

I originally read this book in the paper format, and this audiobook did not disappoint! The narration was easy to follow and fun to listen to.

This book examines the themes of:
what it means to have humanity,
fighting against those in power,
and useful inventions versus monstrous transformations of resources.

The ending is a cliffhanger and makes me so excited for book two!

Great Audiobook Adaptation!
