I have been completely enraptured by this book since starting it
It had every aspect I was looking for. Love, heartache, loss, adventure, magic and wow what a twist in every chapter as it all came together at the end!!! Can’t wait for the next 2 books

Heroic women in a enthralling new world.

Narration was excellent, compelling new world to experience made this a satisfying and enjoyable new adventure.

It’s a slow build but gets there!

It took me a minute to understand what was going on, but that is the journey of the characters, they don’t understand either. This story is building and I’m excited to get to book 2.

Clever plot organization

No spoilers, but I am impressed with this author's cleverness.
This is a great bit of fantasy (post apocalyptic?) writing. I'm a jaded veteran reader in her sixth decade on this planet, and this book provided innovative ideas and a well developed world. I am definitely reading the next.

The narrator did a great job. That said, the music and sound effects on this production were SUPER ANNOYING. They did not add to the experience; they distracted from it. Sound tracks are for movies where the audience expects to be spoonfed all the sensory experience; in reading, we the audience make our own movies and an added soundtrack is intrusive, unnecessary, and inpedes good narrative work. Stop it. Never do that again.

this book is genuinely so freaking good.

This is my second time listening (first time was the original version without sound effects) and I forgot how incredible the writing and world building is. One of the most interesting sci-fi I think I've ever listened to. And I love how much the sound effects add to it, really 1000/10.
