Interesting concept

This book has a great concept, and really grabs you once character development starts kicking in for the antagonist. The only 2 problems being the performance of the female reader being extremely robotic, making the dialogue sound worse than it actually is, the fact that it ended too soon! It should have been about 50% longer, it felt like it ended in the second act. I enjoyed it and am now impatient for a sequel.

Good story, terrible narration

This book lured me in pretty quickly. I was fascinated by the introduction to Kain and everything about this fire fae. I wasn’t a huge fan of Maddy at first, but she grew on me. Her character got stronger and so did my affinity towards her. There is one character I’m awfully suspicious of…I must keep reading. The audible audiobook is terrible. Narrator sounds like AI.

Why aren’t more people talking about this book!

I loved this book! Fast paced, short and easy read. The world building happens as the story takes off.
The FMC in this story has my heart. She’s an underdog and shows up for herself time and time again despite all odds. I can’t wait to start the next book.. starting now!
(The narration is a tad bit underwhelming)

narrator negative stars

the story line is pretty great. I agree with previous reviewers, however, the female narrative has a lack of emotion while delivering her side of the story. it made it difficult to get thru. I will continue the books because I need to know what happens, but knowing it's the same female narrator I am already cringing thinking of the monotonous delivery. ugh! she reads well, but I encourage her to do better with her voice acting. of course it's so easy to listen and make judgements, I know, but even I did better reading bedtime stories to my children.

Has potential

Like so many other said the story has really good potential but didn’t pick up until the last 30 minutes of the book. However, I will listen to the next one.

Good concept

Needs more story development, ends abruptly. The female narration sounds like AI, absolutely the worst.

I love this book!!

This book kept me on edge all the way through. It has been some time where I haven’t gotten bored of a storyline, but this one I read in a day. Thank you! I can’t wait to read the rest of the series!

I loved this book it kept mess interested the whole time. my only wish is more chapters from Maine's pov

Great start to a new series!

Loved the storyline, and it ended way too soon!! The female narrator was a bit stiff and could use some improvement, but not so bad I couldn't listen. Hopefully, she'll improvement in future books.

I’d heard great things about this story, and it did not disappoint. Definitely worth your time!
