Best one of the series

This entire series is STELLAR! I loved this book though - definitely my favorite! Loved how absolutely nuts Nate is and how Kayla although hard and tough still just wants to be taken care of.

Those trigger warnings are real. Do NOT ignore.

I DNF’d. I tried. I really did. I didn’t believe the trigger warnings because, well, I’ve never needed to before. I read a LOT of mafia romance and dark romance. Crime novels. War novels. Not once have I put a book down because I just couldn’t get past the non-consensual nature of their relationship and the mental torment. It’s incredibly well-written and the narration is top notch. I adore Corvin- and that’s one of the reasons I picked up this book. But LAWD y’all. I was NOT ready. Perhaps the narration is the reason I DNF’d- it became too real in my head. I don’t know. It’s been weeks since I put this down and it’s still messing with me. I thought I could go back to it but I just can’t.

I’ve never rated a book so highly and DNF’d, lol. But that’s just where I am.

The narrators really bring the characters to life in this dark romance, making the story very engaging and enjoyable.

Every single FMC is annoyingly idiotic in this entire series, so far. Were these stories written from a male's perspective? Ughhh 😤. Book 1, ok, it was mainly Caden who was annoying, the FMC just benefited from his idiocy. Book 2, Xi was annoying. I might have been biased from his background in Book 1, the FMC was a push-over. Book 3, was not for me...not into BDSM, it's like she couldn't think for herself.

And now book 4, in the beginning, the FMC is so prideful that she made nothing but stupid moves that compromised her, her gang, & her family...I can't....but, as the story goes on, it gets better & better. Narration was great! Even though it was performed in dual - not duet narration. The narrators made these stories worth listening to, it's the written characters that were the issue. If I had to pick, book 1 & 4 are the best in the series so far, & this one, book 4 has the most interesting plot! Loved this story.
