Publisher's summary

This is a gripping and at times brutally terrifying story of young teens with unsettling past, suddenly entrapped in a horrifying chain of events that would take three days and nights to unfold. Three days that would hold the nation spellbound and saddened. I honestly believe you have never read a story like this and pray that the day never comes this work of fiction becomes reality Mark Longstreet, the former retired Marine Corps Sergeant and Silver Star recipient believed he had seen and experienced the epitome of human cruelty during his tour of duty in the Vietnam War. He was to discover that the evils he witnessed in Vietnam would tragically and terrifyingly be challenged by what he was to experience at his first job as a therapist at Helbrook Substance Abuse Center located in North Florida. Helbrook was an alcohol and drug rehab center for troubled teenage children and their last opportunity to get their lives in order or be placed in a reformatory until they reached the age of adulthood where they would be sent to jail or prison. Mark himself had previous long bouts with alcohol after losing his two teenage children within a year of each other. Mark would fall in love with the boys and girls he was about to meet at Helbrook, as well as a young therapist, Claudia Calvert. This story certainly isn’t for the faint of heart, yet in reality it is a beautiful love story as many as these kids respond to Mark’s kindness and compassion, accomplishing great strides in getting their young lives back together. In the end however, a terrible and horrible fate awaited many of these kids as well as Mark and many of the people working there.
