Why doesn’t this get more hype??

WELL worth the credit. Excellent writing, interesting story and characters, wonderful narration. Nice to find something in this genre that isn’t intended for teenagers. I can’t wait to continue this series.

Enjoyed this fantasy world

I loved the book and the narrators were amazing. Be prepared for some steamy interactions between the main characters.

My Favorite of the Series

I love this entire series - so much so that I bought hard copies of the books, and this book in particular is <chef's kiss>! Even if you don't read the others, I highly recommend this.

Incredibly worth the listen/read

I’m shocked this book/series doesn’t have more fanfare. It’s beautifully written, and does a great job of balancing fantasy, politics, and romance. The leads are engaging, believable characters and the romance rings true. If you’re a fan of the TOG or ACOTAR series, do yourself a favor and read this.

Beautiful

This is easily one of my top 5 fantasy romance books ever. Would recommend to anyone interested in fantasy.

So good and different

What a well written and captivating book. The setting is beautifully stablished, the characters feel well developed and compelling, the political intrigue plot keeps you hooked, the magic system is so intriguing and mysterious (I guess it’ll be further developed in the next books) and the romance is so well done too. Looking forward to next books in the series.

Beautiful

I absolutely loved this book. The story is rich, romantic, and well-paced, with characters I cared about and a plot that kept me turning pages. As someone from the region that inspired the world, I did notice a few cultural or historical details that didn’t fully align with how that era or influence is often portrayed. Still, they were small and didn’t take away from the strength of the story. JD Evans has built a captivating world, and I’m fully committed to reading the rest of the series.

Magic, Politics, and Romance

This book was amazing, start to finish. The political games might make the plot seem slow for those used to a lot of action, but the complex magic system and thorough world building more than make up for any lack.

I can’t wait to start the next book in the series.
