Publisher's summary

Book 2 of the Kings of Israel Series is available now!

See the story through the eyes of the two men that lived it. Witness David’s rise to strength from humble beginnings and King Saul’s descent from the nation’s highest title. What drove David to succeed? Why did Saul fail?

As featured on Reedsy Discovery!

David was a shepherd, then a warrior. Now, he’s a fugitive, called by God to lead the nation, yet chased into the desert by Saul, the mad king who rules in his stead. But he isn’t alone. Gathered with him is a ragtag group of the downtrodden and discontent. Men who need to a leader. Men who need a king.

Saul has fallen hard. Once the proud ruler of God’s chosen nation, he’s little more than an empty shell of fear and doubt, haunted by his past and unwilling to change. His obsession with finding David is leading his people into ruin, and God has commanded him to give up the throne.

When God speaks, shepherds and kings will hear. But will they obey?

King David

Excellent book. Narrated perfectly. Only complaint was I feel it’s to short, patiently waiting on the next book.

Brings it to life

Reading the Bible can be boring, but this imaginative telling brings the story of David to life. I excitedly await the next book in the series!

Bad narration

I listened to the first book in the series and enjoyed the story. The narrator was not great. I wanted to experience the rest of the story so I went ahead and purchased this book. Unfortunately, the narration is worse than the first book. There was a lot of background noise that was rather distracting. The narrator rushed through the words so much that a lot were mumbled and cut off. Often times, it was hard to understand what he read.
While I enjoyed the story line (what I could understand of it), the narration ruined a good bit of it for me. I had to back track many times to try to understand what he was saying and what was happening in the story. It made the experience unfavorable and I often lost the moment and feeling the author worked so hard to create. I wish I could give this a higher rating but I cannot, simply because of the narration. Those purchasing this audiobook should know what to expect.
