In this New York Times bestseller, Cormoran and Robin find themselves ensnared in another winding, wicked case as they must work to uncover the mysterious identity of an online killer—before it’s too late.

When frantic, disheveled Edie Ledwell appears in the office begging to speak to her, private detective Robin Ellacott doesn’t know quite what to make of the situation. The cocreator of a popular cartoon, The Ink Black Heart, Edie is being persecuted by a mysterious online figure who goes by the pseudonym of Anomie. Edie is desperate to uncover Anomie’s true identity.

Robin decides that the agency can’t help with this—and thinks nothing more of it until a few days later, when she reads the shocking news that Edie has been tasered and then murdered in Highgate Cemetery, the location of The Ink Black Heart.

Robin and her business partner, Cormoran Strike, become drawn into the quest to uncover Anomie’s true identity. But with a complex web of online aliases, business interests and family conflicts to navigate, Strike and Robin find themselves embroiled in a case that stretches their powers of deduction to the limits—and which threatens them in new and horrifying ways ...

A gripping, fiendishly clever mystery, The Ink Black Heart is a true tour-de-force.

could not stop listening. normally by the last few chapters I have it figured out and I'm yelling at robin and cormoran to get their sh*t together, but not this time. as an obsessive HP fan I could relate to all the fan kids in this book and as someone whose done some work on the internet infiltrating groups like this it all hit home. this was my favorite by far.

This is another excellent installment of the Cormoran Strike series.

Regarding the chats/tweets: Galbraith, as in her previous works, uses epistolary writing for various parts of the book. And since contemporary communication include tweets, online chats, texts, etc, this book includes several chapters of those. The audio recording of the tweets and chat conversations were fine for me, but I do understand that hearing them in the audiobook might be tiresome for some listeners. If you find them confusing, buy a hard copy of the book, not the kindle version.

It is a wonderful story. I'm listening to it again now that I know "who done it." Like all the best authors, the more I read Galbraith, the more I come to appreciate.

Galbraith does it again!

The saga continues.

The characters are well developed and intriguing. The story twists and turns, but it is not so convoluted as to be confusing.

The tension between Cormoran and Robin is ever present, but not tedious. It just leaves the reader desperately wanting them to get “on the same page” at the same time.

My only gripe: the constant #this and @that is wearing, to say the least, but that may be because of the audiobook format. It may be easier in the physical book.

I can hardly wait for the next one. Please don’t let it be the last.

Wonderful, as usual…

Absolutely riveting - excellent listen; I'll admit it was a little tough to keep up with some character names but you manage if you're attentive (and you can always look them up, thanks google). I have a long commute and this book had me looking forward to getting into the car, and really sad when the book came to an end. The story is riveting, unusual, and there are some important themes here regarding online identities and the dangers of the cyber world. Absolutely phenomenal start to finish, I was never bored. LOVED THIS.

The only thing I didn't like about "The Ink Black Heart" was finishing it and saying goodbye to the wonderful characters, especially Cormoran, Robin and Pat. Robert Glenster's superb narration was perfect throughout the long but totally fascinating story.

Excellent story, wonderfully read.
