A dismembered corpse is discovered in the vault of a silver shop. The police initially believe it to be that of a convicted armed robber—but not everyone agrees with that theory. One of them is Decima Mullins, who calls on the help of private detective Cormoran Strike as she's certain the body in the silver vault was that of her boyfriend—the father of her newborn baby—who suddenly and mysteriously disappeared.

The more Strike and his business partner Robin Ellacott delve into the case, the more labyrinthine it gets. The silver shop is no ordinary one: it's located beside Freemasons' Hall and specializes in Masonic silverware. And in addition to the armed robber and Decima's boyfriend, it becomes clear that there are other missing men who could fit the profile of the body in the vault.

As the case becomes ever more complicated and dangerous, Strike faces another quandary. Robin seems increasingly committed to her boyfriend, policeman Ryan Murphy, but the impulse to declare his own feelings for her is becoming stronger than ever.

A gripping, wonderfully complex novel which takes Strike and Robin's story to a new level, The Hallmarked Man is an unmissable pick for any fan of this unique series.

I love it!! It ended exactly more the way it should. There are surprises, old friends and new enemies. Thank you JK and RG. Have you started the next book in this series?

Suspenseful until the end, bravo. Narration as usual on point. This did not disappoint.

I love this author and love this series. The writing is beautiful and intricate and the narrator is AMAZING. However, this book was not my favorite in the series. The murder seemed a bit more convoluted and it was harder to track the “who dunnit” aspect.

The “Will they/wont they” plot line is now tedious and annoying and feels very dragged out. I wish it would conclude one way or another so we can get back to crime solving

Not the best one in the bunch but she will do

The main characters Strike & Robin didn't end up together.... thought some of the sexual content too much.

There was some really funny moments... The Hallmarked Man

Amazing energy and intertwining storylines. The ending just killed me. I hope I don't have to wait two years for the next one!

Loved it!

The chokehold this series has me in, is crippling. Narration is impeccable. Normally I hate a man doing the female narration, but it works so well, it cannot ever change. Strike is perfectly grumpy, and Robin made me want to shake her a few times, but overall it’s simply perfection. I hate how quickly I listened to this and how long I have to wait for the next book.

I love this series. It is nice long complicated detective book with interesting developments between the detective partners. Narrator is amazing as always.

Another fantastic performance by Glenister! Great mystery, superb character development. I laughed, I cried, I gasped and by the end I had to sit down to process my feelings. Only problem is waiting for the next book!

Couldn’t stop listening

SPOILER ALERT!
That ending. Why is Strike the only one to blame for not saying how he feels? Robyn hasn't been open about her feelings either. And she still isn't, preferring to blame the man rather than take equal share of the responsibility. Two people are in love and neither has told the other. Well, until now... Anyway, it's annoying that the book insists on outdated gender roles.
