Great read and almost perfect narration..

Another great mystery by Mary Burton and they get better all the time. A rapist/murderer who had been at it for more than ten years, and Macy had been sent from Quantico to solve the case and was given only 5 days to do it, all the while still healing from a hit and run that almost killed her the year before. She would be working with an old lover of her's, Mike Nevada, and they would fall in love this time around.

I’m so glad the description of what was being done to these girls wasn’t too descriptive, except for the strangling then bringing them back again and again. He was an evil creep.

There was sex in this, but it wasn’t too graphic and the F-bomb was used only 4 times.

As to the narration: Hmmm… it was good overall, but Nevada’s voice was used without any emotions whatsoever. He sounded very bored all the time. I didn’t like is voice at all.

Plausible Plot

Seems, to me, that this story line could be based on fragments of reality. I found the author to be skilled at creating the kind of characters we could be standing next to or passing by or living next door to, even know well; as well as especially skilled at producing persuasive memory fragments within the minds of those experiencing trauma. The narration would have received a 5, had Nevada's voice matched my interpretation of him. Felt as though it did him a disservice.

Hide and Seek CRIMINAL PROFILER

"Hide and Seek" turn out to be an amazing book with all the twines and turn that this killer took the cops. Knowing that the killing has been hoping on for far too many years. A small town has its own secrets that a rapist has been operating from time they were in high school and the adults who organized the burn fire took this to the next level. A high school football team were giving all the fun activities that they thinks will help their team make it to the final state play. But it came with a price with innocent of the young girls who in the school. The case span for over ten years and with time the killer had time to perfect its killings. With this time, he had time to continue to rape girls and soon young women he also had his trade mark. Which is part of his realia and most or all of his victims who survive, told the police. But as it happens, he did not do anything about it there are many victims that made it today one of his victims is a police and sister to the recent sheriff. He is an FBI agent who has just come back home after the death of his grandfather. Only for him to learn about the secrets of the sheriff and without any reason but to protect the perpetrator of these killings and rape of the young women within the community. Now a new sheriff is town and things are changing and sheriff Mike Nevada formal FBI agent. When the bones of one of first victims was uncovered, he asked for his boss for help. Due to all the rape kits that was untested and were stored on the criminal lab without any forward investigation which in turn allow the killing to continued. Tobi Turner bones is that first victim and the uncovering of her bone led to all the other victims to be discovered.

Good story but the voice used for one of the main character makes it nearly impossible to listen to

Interesting enough story, but was distracted when the reader kept saying "so-and-so said" rather than simply using character voices. Oddly enough, this is only done during parts of the story.

Fairly entertaining

I liked this book but figured out who did it pretty early. Still good though. Pretty annoying narration of Nevada. It sounded flat and too quiet instead of strong and deep like I thought the character should sound. Narration otherwise ok.

Mary Burton has written another great novel!

The author has written another great novel, excellent characters & spellbinding storyline! The narrator delivers the punch this story deserves!

would have been better with a different narrator

it took several attempts to get into this book as the narrators voice for Nevada was extremely distracting. however, once I finally got over that, the story was very good.
