Master storyteller Stephen King presents the classic, terrifying #1 New York Times bestseller about a terrifying otherworldly discovery and the effects it has a on a small town.

“Late last night and the night before, Tommyknockers, Tommyknockers, knocking at the door…”

On a beautiful June day, while walking deep in the woods on her property in Haven, Maine, Bobbi Anderson quite literally stumbles over her own destiny and that of the entire town. For the dull gray metal protrusion she discovers in the ground is part of a mysterious and massive metal object, one that may have been buried there for millennia. Bobbi can’t help but become obsessed and try to dig it out…the consequences of which will affect and transmute every citizen of Haven, young and old. It means unleashing extraordinary powers beyond those of mere mortals—and certain death for any and all outsiders. An alien hell has now invaded this small New England town…an aggressive and violent malignancy devoid of any mercy or sanity…

The narrator does a great job with this Stephen King signature. Tommyknockers knocking on your door... I love how King fills the space between the book covers with a story about 1 person and the situations they face. There are very few characters you get to know but don't care, it's all about the one, unlike any other. Edward Herrmann, I hope you sought some psychiatric help after embodying Gard for this book. Great all around, excellent to listen to.

spooky and enthralling

I listened to The Tommyknockers during a time when a lot was going on in my life that I had no control over. The story was embedded with King’s wit and humor, told with voice and inflection that brought home an entertaining tale, hitting the spot and quenching my need to escape.

This is a tale for when your in the mood to lose yourself.

the story jumps around significantly. Listen to this book while driving is not an easy feat. Paying attention to all of these new characters, and keeping track of all of the individuals backstories is rather difficult. It might be a little better in regular book format.

it's a bit rambling.

The Tommyknockers is likely King’s most underrated work. It’s a bizarre and often gruesome take on “the little green men” that I have thoroughly enjoyed over the years. Herrmann’s narration is enjoyable. Perhaps one of my favorite narrators since joining Audible last fall.

King and Herrmann are masterful
