Publisher's summary

All Camille wanted to do was build a museum in the desert. Too bad someone didn’t agree, and she was murdered. But was it for the land or her millions?

That property was prime desert land. A lot of people wanted it. The Tortoise Lady, the Mafia investors, and the Indian tribe. Camille’s son and daughter-in-law wanted her millions. That makes for a lot of motives and suspects.

Detective Jeff’s busy with two other murders and definitely needs his wife’s help. Good thing Marty has a psychic sister and a psychic dog to help!

This is the seventh book in the popular Midwest Cozy Mystery series by a two-time USA Today best-selling author.

Basic murder mystery

I'm beginning to understand the format of this series of cozy books. 1. Introduce several characters that all talk about killing the victim. 2. Make it sound like any of them had the motive to kill the victim. 3. See how many psychic predictions can help you solve the murder, even though you are no longer in law enforcement. 4. Have the dog psychically point to the killer. 5. Solve the murder. This story was one of the easiest to predict who killed the victim and why. I just wish one of the books in the series would be a little different. Same plot, different victim and killer.

Great way to spend a summer day!

Murder and the Museum is #7 in the High Desert Cozy Mystery series by Dianne Harman. A wealthy collector who was planning to build a museum is murdered, and there are many suspects. Marty was hired to appraise the collection, and ends up helping her husband, Detective Jeff, solve the crime. Ms. Harman’s mystery are like mini-vacations to other parts of the country. The characters are likable and the mystery is good. The narration by Kasey Logan is excellent. I highly recommend this book and series.

Cozy Mystery with a Unique Storyline!

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this audiobook! It captured my attention from the start and kept delivering. I would give it a five star rating.

This cozy mystery is really well-written. Author Dianne Harman created a cast of characters with motives for committing the murder of wealthy Camille. Camille had a mega collection of art, as well as western and Native American artifacts. At the time of her death, she was in the process of purchasing a desert property near Palm Springs. She planned to build a museum to house her extensive collection and share it with the public. Other people also wanted the desirable property and had motivation for murdering Camille in order for the sale to fall through and go back on the market. The property was in a prime location for a desert resort, a shopping mall, and a tribal casino. It was also the habitat for a large number of desert tortoises and was of interest to the environmental community.

One of the main characters, Marty, aids her husband detective Jeff with the investigation of Camille's murder. Dog lovers will appreciate the couple's dogs, who are part of the story. It is not necessary to have listened to other books in the series prior to this audiobook. It is a stand alone.

Narrator Kasey Logan does an excellent job with the voices of the characters.

This book would have been even better if the story was longer. It was so good that I wanted more!
