If you don't mind repetition

It's understandable that the nature of hunting stories makes them repetitive and often predictable, but there's enough varied prose and thoughtfulness here to keep it engaging. Though for someone who's renowned for their charisma and passion, this work of Roosevelt's can come across dry and humorless as he makes clear to illustrate that his experience and knowledge is well above that of the average frontiersman. With that in mind, the narration is downright monotonous, with a distant, gruff lack of emotion. His voice works well for the subject matter, it just needs to be elevated with variation in delivery, I found myself constantly zoning out and having to replay segments. Still enjoyed this very much, and would certainly recommend.

Narrator is horrible

After hearing the narrator for the first few seconds I almost turned it off and only kept listening because I wanted to listen to this entire book. I’ve heard him on another audiobook and it is absolutely brutal listening to his idiotic accent and how he tries to portray the readings.

Great book dullest narrator

Loved the book the narrator was hard to listen very dull and plain plus the accent dosent help when reading Teddy Roosevelt

Worth every moment.

Roosevelt writes about hunting very openly. His life story explains how important his love of the outdoors was, in helping develop his strength & courage.
His era, did not know the idea we now call “conservation.”
Yet, after years of excess, (there being no such thought at the time) he learned the desperate need for it. Then, as president, he became the man who helped craft, and put in place the laws that enforced it.
His love of the outdoors continues being important to our country to this day.
The narration, is very talented, though a tad “different” but in all, very much a 9 out of ten.

Great book

It was great to listen to what someone had written a long time ago about how life was and how they survived. It’s a must read or listen and I’ll be listening to more books like this one.
