Publisher's summary

He's investigating her people - so why can't she resist him?

Rory's been an outcast her whole life, never feeling like she fit in with the other necromancers. With the Shifter Council investigating a rogue, her loyalties are torn between the people she doesn't belong to, and the shifter she can't seem to stop thinking about.

When Alden saves Rory one night, the attraction between them becomes too difficult to ignore, and he finally starts to accept that she could be his mate.

The Necromancer's Prey is the third book in the completed Paranormal Council series. It is Rory and Alden's full story.

Great short Series

I received this audiobook free, as an Audiobook Obsession Reviewer, for an honest review. The third great short story in the series. The author does a great job writing short stories in the paranormal genre. They are complete, full stories. The author has a talent for developing the characters and the story for a continuing series. The narrator does a good job with the characters and their unique personalities.

The Necromancer & The Owl

This was the best book so far in The Paranormal Council world! Aurora is an outcast necromancer who is labeled “too nice” in her own community, but stereotyped as a bad person to the rest of the world and Alden is an owl shifter from the council sent to investigate a rouge necromancer. One night, he saves her life and their attraction is undeniable. Now she has to decide to stay loyal to her kind and beliefs or to follow her heart. Rory is soft and sweet, but doesn’t give into the pressure of her people and I really enjoyed watching her confidence grow in this story. I felt like Alden was the perfect mate for her because of how gentle and protective he was and since he didn’t make her feel like an outcast and let her be who she was. I loved the mystery and action thrown in this paranormal romance and that it ended with a HEA.
Libby did another great narration! Even though she narrated the last book with different characters, she still made these new characters their own. I love how she can keep you hooked from start to finish!

The Mystery Continues

Title: The Necromancer's Prey
Author: Laura Greenwood
Format: Audio
Narrator: Libby Kerk
Genre: Romance - Paranormal (Shifter - Owl, Necromancer)
Standalone: Yes
Part of a Series: Yes Book 3 of the Paranormal Council
POV: Rory and Alden
Steam Level: Warm
4/5

The Necromancer's Prey, book three in the Paranormal Council series, features Alden and Rory's story. In it you find out who the necromancer is who commited the murders in book 1 The Dryad's Pawprint but not what will happen to them. I like that each book features a different couple while moving the overall mystery forward. If you're looking for the love then each book is great, if you're searching for mystery then you'll need to finish the last two books (most likely). I really like Libby Kerk's narration. It's soft and flows nicely with the story - not over the top. I'd definitely continue with this series as it's sweet and fun with an excellent mystery.

Paranormal greatness

This is the third book in the Paranormal Council series and focuses on Rory (Aurora) and Alden, and is just as enjoyable as the first two books in the series. I liked the twist to the Necromancer theme that was put into place, it shows that you can not judge everyone based off of labels.

Rory and the owl shifter

Good to see the murder case on the move with plots to trap the mysterious evil. Romance and friendships develop and power is uncovered. l enjoyed the narrator's voice.

a little better

One of my biggest complaints about the first two books is that they weren't long enough for me to get invested. While I feel the same about this one, I think I enjoyed it more because I understand the story a little bit better. The issues presented in books 1&2 were still present and I liked that the author built upon that. This series doesn't feel like a random series anymore. However, I do wish we had more. I wish there was more climax, more plot, just more. Maybe I'm not the one for these shorter books? It is nice to have a quick read but when I do enjoy the story it feels like a let down when the climax of the story arrives and leaves so fast.

The characters were done great again. I enjoyed that we are getting to see more characters to this story but since it's so short, I don't feel the same investment. It's nice to see them overcome the differences in their paranormal lives but it doesn't feel satisfying because I don't really get to experience their struggles for them to finally be with each other.

NARRATION:
I really liked the narration for this. It was very clean and crisp which I enjoyed. She did a fantastic job on delivering the story that was given

Good book

This is the third book in the Paranormal Counsel series, but each one can be read as a standalone as each one follows one couple. This one does not disappoint as it is a sweet romance blended nicely with magic.

Not as Enthralling

I found my self not as interested in this one. The only thing that kept me listening was hoping that Rory was found to be the Fairy Princess.

Sweet story

Rory is a necromancer but she's never been accepted by her own people. She lacks the usual qualities of a necromancer; she has no desire to use her magic to hurt anyone. When she is assigned to help the Shifter Council investigate a rogue necromancer she is teamed up with a shifter. And although she knows she shouldn't Rory just can't stop thinking about Alden. Alden can't get the little necromancer off his mind either. In fact, he's convinced she's his mate.

Sweet story. Nice balance between the investigation and the romance. Alden's gentle, protective qualities made him the perfect mate for Rory. He allowed her to just be herself, never making her feel looked down upon or untrustworthy as a necromancer. In fact, his interest in her magic likely made her stronger. I only wish he had been brave enough to confess about his former relationship and reservations before they started up anything. It made him come across as weak and still hung up on his past. It was nice to see Rory's character grow throughout the story. It's easy to see that these two have a bright future together.

Libby Kerk did a lovely job with the narration. I felt like she captured the characters and mood of each scene perfectly.
