Publisher's summary

Returning to Laguna Beach after four tours in the Middle East, Christian Wolfe leaves the military behind and buys a wine bar, vowing to keep his life simple. He fights to keep his devastating PTSD a secret and refuses to burden anyone else with his baggage. When stunning Kelly Prescott and her red stilettos saunter into town, she drives him past the bonds of his self-control.

Successful in her father’s stuffy law firm, Kelly’s too compassionate to survive in the cutthroat world of corporate litigation. Leaving behind both family and courtroom drama, she moves to Laguna to become general counsel for a nonprofit veterans’ organization.

She didn’t bargain on a gorgeous modern-day Heathcliff, and in Christian, she sees another kind of challenge - one she can’t resist.

Sunset in Laguna

Kelly Prescott is a successful attorney working in her father's firm, but she is miserable and wants to do more with her life. She takes a job with a nonprofit organization serving Veterans and moves away from her father.

Christian Wolfe is a highly decorated Veteran, but he is silently suffering from PTSD. His headaches and nightmares make his life miserable. When the two meet up and Kelly invites Christian to go with her to meet a woman running a pets for vets group, Christian is immediately adopted by a pug named Olive.

The story is entertaining and well written, poignant at times and thoroughly enjoyable. I loved the inclusion of Olive, who plays a huge role in the story. The author does a good job in writing about PTSD and other problems facing our returning Veterans.

There is plenty of simmering attraction and one awesome sex scene for those who enjoy that type of thing LOL. There is plenty of romance and a HEA ending for the romantic in all of us.

Kelly and Christian

This is a great story about helping veterans heal from ptsd. It also showcases the healing power of pets. There is also romance and chemistry. Narration was good but it needed more difference between male and female voices. I would recommend this story.

Good story!💜

This was a good story that addressed many real life issues including but not limited to, PTSD and family drama. I love reading how characters learn how to deal with their constant fears and stress and realizing that reaching out for help is not a sign of weakness but rather a show of courage.
Tracey Rooney is very good narrator with the female characters, however, I had difficulties distinguishing between the female and male characters.
I recommend this book!

GREAT READ!

I really enjoyed it! This story is full of romance and humor. The narration is excellent! The author did an excellent job with the character builds and plot. This was my second book by this author and I love that you don't have to read these stories in order. I look forward to reading more books in this series. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
