Wonderful

One of the most amazing audiobooks I've ever listened to. What can I say without giving any spoilers? The author creates a story and unfold it bit by bit while painting a picture that comes alive as you watch. This type of writing is so much more precise and artistic than many of today's author's who put out garbage that somehow becomes best sellers. This is the first solid example of a good book that I've found that I can reference when I complain to my friends (who don't read) that I don't like Stephen King because his writing is so lazy. I would encourage anyone to read this unless all you're into is fast paced action. The story is beautifully told, but it builds slowly.

Narrator Kristin Price is truely a master at her craft. I have heard few others who could compliment a story so well. I will be looking into her other works in the future hoping to find other great works.

More Thriller Than Horror

I really loved this one. Though it was more of a mystery/thriller than it was a scary horror story, the characters in 'The Cabin Sessions' are so well fleshed out that it could have been any genre at all and I would have been riveted. It's hard to say much about this without giving away spoilers... if you're into character driven thrillers, then I'd definitely give 'The Cabin Sessions' a shot! Kristin Price does a fantastic job of narrating this thoughtful story.

The Cabin Sessions

This is a well balanced psychological novel, its horror in the events of the evening and the histories and disturbed mental states of its characters. I was gripped in horrified fascination by Blackthorn’s subtle story .

Deep Thriller

I found this book was a deep psychological thriller and not real horror. There are many characters who meet up in The Cabin on Christmas Eve to perform such as Adam, Eva, Delilah, Benny, Philip etc. while a storm threatens and at time it was hard to follow as they kept switching between them in time periods (had to repeat a couple of parts). But overall it was deep and dark with some humor. Recommend if you like a deep disturbing thriller . I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. Dark Yarn About Broken People in a Broken Town

I'm not sure if I'd classify this as a horror novel. It's more of a dark mystery thriller with broken people in a broken town forced to come to a reckoning by Mother Nature trapping them at the titular Cabin. The characters are the deepest I've ever listened to, the characters live and breathe and are relatable and loathsome and just broken. It's fantastic and dark and chilling.

The narration is great as well as the narrator helps breathe life into this ensemble even while you might not want to uncover all the stones they're turning over.

Dark and brooding

A slow brooding read that builds up the pressure step by step in an atmosphere of almost intolderable claustrophobia, as the dirty secrets of a nowhere town gradually float to the surface. Beautifully composed and written, with an unusual structure: two very different points of view, and one set of acutely strange, disturbing diary entries. What happens? In some ways very little. But in the awkward and anxious silences seismic changes are taking place in the dynamics of this community, and the reader is holding their breath for the outcome.

My only grouse is the USA accent narration of a book largely in the first person with exclusively australian characters. Seriously, are their no australian narrators in the market?
