A story about everything and nothing, a boy in a plum tree, and a 7th grade no longer sure that anything means anything.

"The novel asks the immense existential questions of the meaning of life. With its unusual, rhythmic and tightly composed language it is an amazing piece of work, which teasingly, grippingly and thrillingly depicts the quest of a group of children to proving to themselves and other people that something matters in life."

The story is incredibly interesting with great philosophical themes, BUT is incredibly brutal and doesn’t hold back.

Reading Nothing was an intense and unsettling experience, but also an incredibly thought-provoking one. Janne Teller crafts a powerful story that challenges readers to question the meaning of life, the nature of values, peer pressure, and just how far people are willing to go to prove a point.
While the novel often feels strikingly relevant to today's world, I believe its real strength lies in showing aspects of human nature that have always existed. It's the kind of book that stays with you long after you've finished the final page.
My biggest issue with the novel was its depiction of cruelty toward animals. That's a subject I find especially difficult to read about, and it's the main reason I couldn't give the book a perfect rating.
That said, I completely understand why Nothing has become such an important and widely discussed novel, especially among young readers. It's provocative, unsettling, and deeply philosophical—a book that sparks meaningful conversations and leaves a lasting impression. Despite my reservations, I definitely think it's worth reading.

The book was deep from the start but it got very dark and inappropriate quickly. The book contains rape, breaking religion and a lot of violence for a book about seventh graders. It has a meaningful theme but It could be bad if teens read it… just a warning!!

Not for children or teenagers
