Publisher's summary

Navigating a soiree with the country’s most lethal and powerful vampires, while one of them is trying to kill you… No big deal, right? Supernaturals have been outed, and the world is slowly changing. So far, Riley and Lucian have been able to wade through the death threats and swarms of admirers without much incident. All that changes with one Vampire Council summoning. In light of the recent reveal orchestrated by Malus, the Council have arranged a gathering for the leaders of the vampire world. Once congregated, they’ll decide if vampires should remain in the shadows, despite the human’s knowledge of their existence, or to embrace this opportunity and come out of hiding. There’s just one catch . . . Riley and Lucian have been summoned to attend as well. While Lucian tries to warn and prepare Riley for the dangers they face ahead, Riley’s increasingly distracted by the opportunity to finally get answers about her father’s origins. But all that comes to a halt when someone tries to kill Riley. Several more attempts and a cryptic message later, it becomes obvious these attacks aren’t random. And the order is coming from someone high up. Someone possibly on the council. Soon, Riley starts to question if their mandatory attendance is because this all began with her and Lucian, or if there’s an ulterior motive to bringing them there. Attending the Council meeting puts her one step closer to finding out the truth about her parents. But is the truth worth dying over?
