この「涙活」という言葉を初めて考え、その活動を広めたのが、本書の著者である「涙活プロデューサー」の寺井広樹氏です。
寺井氏が「涙活」のセミナーを最初に開いたのは2013年。自身の周りに「泣きたいのに泣けない」という人がたくさんいたからでした。
とくに、働いている男性というのは、仕事の場で泣くことが許されません。
そして、家でも奥さん、子どもの前では涙を見せられない……。そんなストレスが溜まる状態に陥っている人が多かったのです。
「思いっきり泣いてストレス発散できる場所を作りたい」と考えたのが、セミナーを始めたきっかけでした。
セミナーを始めてわかったのは、「あっ、みんな、泣きたいのに我慢していたんだ!」ということ。その証拠に「涙活セミナー」は、これまでの約5年間で、約400回を数え、参加者の累計は1万2000人以上となりました。
「明日笑うために、今日泣こう!」。これが、著者が勧めるセミナーのテーマです。
もちろん、泣いてすべてが解決されるほど世の中は甘くはありません。ですが、寺井氏は人目もはばからず思いっきり泣くことで、その涙の向こう側には、これまでとは違う世界が待っていると信じています。
