An ancient Empire. A mysterious blight. A runaway death cult. What could possibly go wrong?
Everything.
After the battle for Draskell Citadel, Gabriel has not yet fully recovered. Time waits for no one, not even those defying fate. Nepherenti Seeks to bind demons to her will. The devohrahn bide their time in their hives. There are still missing Reclaimers.
A faint Hope glimmers in the darkness: Old Reslia.
Yet where one empire was meant to reside, another stands.
In the hunt for answers the line between friend and foe blurs. Who is the bigger threat to the world? The cult, the empire, or something else entirely.
Beneath the shadow of the colossus, only one thing is certain: Nothing is as it seems.

a 3 on the story because the progression felt too rushed and fantastical even for genre. ex:finding his dad's old plane complete with recordings of his dad only, even when the plane had obviously continued to be in service with multiple other pilots after him. and to compound it, his brothers resting place just so happens to be only a few days away directly in his path to the next objective. I was cool with letting it slide in "iron heart" when he just so happens upon Val and James resting place but come on.
and let's not get started on Nicole's pregnancy when BOTH apparently need to turn on nanites
too much

However, all of the above would be excusable but for the climax. The entire sequence is stolen directly from the Demon Slayer (Kimetsu no Yaiba) manga and subsequent movie Mugen Train (2020). Every single aspect was copied, from the demon's use of eyes to transport the main character to an illusory realm, to the main character repeatedly killing themselves by a sword blow to the neck to escape said illusory realm. Even the slight twist on the illusion just before the final blow is the same. The author should be ashamed, and despite a moderately enjoyable story up to this point, I won't be reading any of their future works.
