Publisher's Summary

I should have died. I should have been forgotten. But I didn't, and I wasn't.

Living the life most women only dream about, I was madly in love with my soulmate - Asher Valentine - amazing husband, loving father, and rock's favorite kick-ass frontman. A man who loved me every day, in every way, since we first met as teens. We were blessed with a beautiful daughter who was the light of our life. My all-female rock band was tearing up the charts.

Then tragedy struck, and I lost it all.

Now all I have is a stack of journals, an antique key, and a big black void where my memories should be. Used to be.

And I have him - this man with wild hair, tattoos from head to toe, a soft voice, and an even softer touch that gives me butterflies. He's clearly hopelessly in love with his wife. I'm told that's me.

But that wife is gone, and she took everything they once had, leaving me in her place. A broken replacement. A new version that doesn't quite fit.

I'm slowly falling in love with him, but will he ever truly love me? Or will he forever be in love with her, the phantom woman who haunts us both?

Not my favorite

It wasn't my favorite in the series at all. The ending felt rushed and I struggled to like the female protagonist even if I felt bad for her.

This book wasn't enjoyable, even if I felt the story was okay. It's not a sexy story though, it's emotional. Not romantic emotional either, for most of it it just feels sad. Asher is wonderful. The narrators did a good job, but I found myself listening to the book sped up to get it over with.

Not the story I expected

I love all of the Ashes & Embers books and with each one Asher become more endearing. I even listened to Torn for more of his story. I think his story has been so anticipated for me and maybe that is why I don't feel this one lived up to the previous books. The ending seemed rushed and other parts were so drawn out I had to fast forward through some of it.
I did like that all of Asher's family had an appearance but oddly just not enough given what happened. I have very mixed emotions about this one. I have listened to all of the previous books many times over, but I wont be doing that with this one.

I couldn't even finish this book

I thought the female character Ember was the most self centered unlikable character I've read in a very long time

Soooooo Depressing!!!!

Such a depressing addition to a great series. Fantastic narration by two of my favorite voice actors!!
For me it would have been a great 2 hour story.

ALL of the FEELS!!!

I absolutely love Carian Cole! I've read this entire Ashes And Embers Sieres, including the All Torn Up Sires about Tore and Kenzie. But this one takes the entire cake! I laughed, I cried, and I gasped in shock. The entire thing was a rollercoaster ride and I was loving it!! Bravo, Carian!! Well done!!

Depressing!!!!

I love Carian Cole, but this story was not for me. In fairness, I only made it half way through the book, but it was honestly too emotionally painful for me to finish. I think it speaks well of the author that she is able to bring such emotion to her stories. Her talent is amazing. However, I tend to gravitate toward books that happier like the other books in this series. I did not return this story because it was extremely well written, the characters are developed and/or developing throughout the listen AND Cole is an extremely talented writer.

Enjoyed

I read the story a few months ago and was super excited waiting for the audiobook. I love the story of Asher and Ember. I love that they met while young and we so happy and in love. The story comes alive from the first page until the last. Aiden and Maxine are a great duo. The story has a nice rhythm. I like to go into a story blind so do not want to share alot of details. Especially with this story where you get to go on the roller coaster ride with Asher. I am happy to be current on Carian's complete collection. Asher is my top story of 2020.

Loved the story - Ashers voice wasn’t great

I have loved all the previous books, was so looking forward to reading Asher.
My first audible book, although I enjoyed the story, I just couldn’t get used to Ashers voice, it was totally wrong for the character, it made him sound very weak and timid, not at all the tough rockstar that came from the other books

Nice story

This story was nice, but didn’t actually connect with me quite as much as I thought it would. I think Ember was a little whiny and I wasn’t quite sure why Asher would be so into her, and Maxine Mitchell’s narration didn’t help. That being said, I still enjoyed it and it was better than 3 stars, and I’ll still get more by this author.

Wow!

Great to see Asher and Ember’s story come together like this. The journey was insane but the ending was worth all the emotional turmoil. One of my fave couples...... Love them twice! Now and forever.

A little disappointed.

I loved the Ashers and Embers series (especially storm) so I was excited to Listen to Asher however this book was so slow I wasn't gripped to the storyline at any point. I found it predictable and a little boring.

Great audio of a fabulous love story

This is my favourite book of Carian Cole's and this audio version is beautifully recorded. Maxine Mitchell captures the emotions of Ember so sensitively and Aiden Snow's Asher breaks my heart with his depth of emotion. The love story is brought to life so wonderfully and this will be listened to numerous times I am sure. The audiobook captures the heart of unrequited and reawakened love. This is a story not to be missed simply for the endless sensitivity and patience and devotion Asher has for his wife.

I managed to read this book in one sitting, which says it all really.
