Publisher's summary

It was only a matter of time before Diana Gabaldon's best-selling Outlander saga made the leap from book to hit TV series, and the millions of readers captivated by the epic romance of Claire Beauchamp Randall and Jamie Fraser have eagerly followed. Now the must-watch drama has inspired this must-have guide, which reveals that it takes a village (or perhaps a Scottish isle) to bring the breathtaking world of Outlander to life in front of our eyes. Spanning the first two seasons of the Starz network sensation, The Making of Outlander leads listeners behind the scenes and straight into the action as cast members, writers, producers, musicians, costume designers, set decorators, technicians, and more share the many adventures and challenges they face to make this sweeping saga come alive on the screen.

Better To Get The Book

I adore, nay, worship Outlander. But listening to this book instead of reading it was a big mistake. Nothing personal to the narrator, but she needs to stick to fiction narration. Her lilting tone and pauses before "he/she said" made listening almost unbearable. Narrating nonfiction evidently does not require lots of emotional and dramatic content.
And besides, I didn't realize there were pictures that I was missing.
On a better note, the behind-the-scenes information was terrific, although I would have wished for more insight into the actors and their characters. The production is absolutely amazing in every way and deserves way more attention and awards than it has received.
A side note: Give me Outlander over "Game Of..." any day!

Great addition to Outlande! No so good narration!

If you could sum up The Making of Outlander: The Series in three words, what would they be?

Interesting, Informative

What other book might you compare The Making of Outlander: The Series to and why?

I have neither listened to nor read any other book similar to The Making of Outlander.

What didn’t you like about Tiffany Morgan’s performance?

Tiffany has a lovely voice but her pauses before the "he said, she said (specific name)" was frustrating. I thought once she got into the book, she would stop that pause. It was incredibly distracting. To the point that I was so focused on her pauses, I lost track of the story. I would expect this from a new narrator but Audible.com has such gifted narrators. It was a HUGE disappointment.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

What does it take to make Outlander?

A whole heck of a LOT.
The backstory reminds me of the history that it took to get "The Princess Bride" on screen. And they are similar, in that both are undefinable!

Is it Romance? Drama? Comedy? Historical? Sci-fi (time travel) You just can't label it. I LOVE the book parts that have me laughing hysterically. It's simply something you cannot contain in one single movie or one single season.

I liked how this book took every single episode & talked thru what happened. And THE WEDDING... word porn for ladies from the books becomes flesh. I especially appreciated how ladies were in charge of this episode & how they detailed WHAT are the differences between what men think is sexy, and what's REALLY sexy.. And The Wedding has to be the best Episode of the whole show. It's magic. Now I know what happened to bring it to life.

All things OUTLANDER

#Outlander, has evoled and developed to bring alive the books of #DianaGabaldon. Production and writing to keep the integrity alive, is no easy task. Yet, it all started from Terry and Meril talking over lunch about some books they read. #RonaldDMoore thank you for you and Meril's hard work.
