Publisher's summary

Beginning with her harsh childhood in Nazi-occupied Holland, Warren Harris chronicles Audrey Hepburn's meteoric rise to Hollywood stardom: her chance encounter with Colette that led to the lead role in the Broadway version of Gigi, and her first starring role in Roman Holiday, for which she won the Academy Award for Best Actress. Hepburn played opposite the top leading men, worked for the best directors, and picked from a wide range of roles.

She memorably embodied Truman Capote's Holly Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffany's and went from rags to Technicolor Victorian beauty in My Fair Lady. Warren Harris also traces Hepburn's affairs and unhappy marriages, as well as her later work as goodwill ambassador for UNICEF. Throughout the book he illuminates her special ability to exude grace and style, both on screen and off.

A must for Audrey fans!

Thoroughly enjoyed this book and the wonderful narration.
Being a fan of Audrey Hepburn, I have read many books on her life.
This one is a favorite.( Bonus as well! Audible original for several days and received reminder when it expires)

fantastic in every way

The story frank and engaging. The performance pitch perfect. each accent/character incredibly well done. Loved what I learned about the years of Ms. Hepburn's upbringing, personal life, and career, her contemporaries and friendships.

BRAVO!!!!

This beautifully written, beautifully read biography has been a treat during these awful Omicron-ridden days. I have always enjoyed the films of Audrey Hepburn, but I didn't know many details about her life or career. Thanks for introducing me to this talented, admirable woman!

Kudos to Wanda McCaddon for an amazing narration. She mimics Audrey’s voice to perfection & makes the book so real.

A nice biography

I enjoyed this book very much. It seem to be factual and authentic. However, the reader’s affectation of Audrey Hepburn’s voice was a dreadful distraction.

Beautiful person you are Audrey

We love you and always will, I finally got to go to Paris and all because I had dreamed of this since I was little matching your movie 'Funny Girl'. I had promised my daughter to take her but she was murdered in 2009, so my wonderful husband took us for our Anniversary, knowing our daughter Chané would still want us to go and experience Paris as I promised her, her spirit was with us the entire time and I called her name at each location we stopped. Your suffering as a child, your grace as a adult and the love you shared with so many and your soon will never be forgotten.

Tasteful honest insightful like I really got to know Audrey

I’ve always been a fan - but thing book brought a new depth to who she was , strong, vulnerable, funny , kind hearted. If you are already a fan this book will deepen that & if you don’t you will become one through out this read
