For a people-pleasing New Yorker and a disagreeable (if seriously hot) Brit, it’s love at fourth sight in a funny and emotional romantic comedy by a Wall Street Journal and USA Today bestselling author.

Tuesday Reynolds’s dreamy life in Manhattan has gone belly-up. Ditched by her college sweetheart and with her Wall Street banking job at risk, she’s off to London to prove herself to a new CEO. Plans change when Tuesday meets Ben Kelley, a wealthy, scowly, and movie-star-handsome stranger. He’s just missing one thing to make his professional dreams come true.

What does Ben need? Oh, just a fake fiancée to impress a duke and duchess. What’s in it for Tuesday? Enough money to put a down payment on an apartment back in New York, a new wardrobe, and a weekend in the country at the stately home of the duke and duchess. The Bridgerton vibes are absolutely off the charts.

Everything between Ben and Tuesday is completely professional, until the rehearsals for their weekend romance start to feel…almost authentic.

It’s official. Tuesday’s life has been hijacked by a rom-com scriptwriter. But the best love stories aren’t the ones on the big screen. Maybe they’re the real ones that sneak up on you when you least expect it.

Critic reviews

An American in London is an absolute delight! Full of some of my favorite tropes and set in one of my favorite cities, this is the perfect book to enjoy at the beach or by the pool. A fun and frothy read I couldn't put down!”—Falon Ballard, USA Today bestselling author of Change of Heart

Loved Tuesday and Ben! Cute banter and character development. Really struggled with the narrator but would still recommend this

There was nothing I didn’t love about this book. In fact this is one of my top reads/ listens from Louise Bay.

I fell hard and fast for American Tuesday Reynolds and British billionaire Ben Kelley, who just happens to look like her teenage crush actor Daniel De Luca.

They met by accident, a case of mistaken identity and what follows was an entertaining, feel good story that had me smiling throughout.

With very little angst, I was invested in Tuesday and Ben’s story from the first chapter.

The narration by Erin Mallon was entertaining and they she did a fantastic job. Not only did she bring all the romance, humour, passion and tension of the story to life but she did justice to this emotional story with voices that are easy to listen

Loved it

But what the fresh heck was up with Erin Mallon’s narration? I’ve listened to her before without issues, this book felt like she was reading it like one would a Dr. Seuss book. The constant rolling up and down over the words without real emotion. Especially with words that end in a vowel sound at the end of a sentence. Da-ay? Mem-oh? I dislike hating on female narrators, but her vocal cadence and ending words at a higher tone is obnoxious. I’m 1/2 way through the book and not sure if I’ll finish it.

Great story…

This story is so warm, humorous and believable. I wonder if it isn't actually based on a couple's real story. I loved how Tuesday spent time and effort learning about Ben and coming to know him just from observing him and thinking about his actions and reactions even though he hardly says more than a few words most of the time. And he cares about her so deeply that he wants her to love herself ...

Delightful, believable story with Great Vocal Performance.

Tuesday’s life was a mess after her fiancé was caught cheating on her and she had to go to London for work. While there, she ran into her celebrity crush…who turned out to just be a doppelgänger named Ben.

Their meeting was accidental. But it was memorable, and when Ben needed a fake fiancée, he asked Tuesday.

These two were so cute together. Ben was grumpy, but he was a little playful. I mean, his playfulness was kind of bland, but it was still cute. And Tuesday so sweet and kind to everyone.

Even though they were fake engaged, they both fell hard and fast. Ben truly went out of his way to make his (not-so) fake fiancée happy.

Overall, this was a cute read.
