Olawale Wombo and a small contingent of Omnians are sent to assist Earth to uplift its technological prowess. With the aid of the incomparable SADEs, advanced tech is transferred to the Sol Enclave, the system’s governing body.

After Sol’s construction of Tridents - Omnian-designed warships - Earthers possess the ability to transit quickly among the stars. The desire to know what happened to Earth’s colony ship, the Honora Belle, sent to the stars a millennium ago is resurrected. An Omnian Trident and the vessel Rêveur accompany three Sol Enclave Tridents in search of the Belle’s colonists.

Swiftly, the Omnians and the Earthers become enmeshed in a centuries-old conflict enveloping a vast area of space inhabited by alliance races. The enemy is the Colony: a giant insectoid species that has arrivied in force to overtake an alliance home world.

Olawale Wombo must decide whether to abide by the expedition’s original purpose or help the embattled alliance races. He asks himself one question: What would Omnian leader Alex Racine do? He knows the answer to that question. Every Omnian knows the answer.

I throughly enjoyed listening to this novel. Since I have long driving periods and I have listened to all the Silver Ships novels this is a great continuation of a side story. Grover Gardner does an excellent job I’m impressed with his voice vocalizations.

Great Side Story to the Silver Ships

I love both book series. This tie in was a great way to bring them both together. I'm not going to give any spoilers here just my opinion. I first started with the silver ships series then the pyrean series came out and I was hooked. S. H. Jucha has become one of my favorite authors. You will not go wrong with these two series. I hope you enjoy them as much as I have come to....also by the by lol I have reread both series and this is no lie at least 4 or 5 time. Love them.

A great book series tie in

This wonderful story continues with Olawale Wombo & crew 'sailing the black' on an expedition to search for the Honora Belle on orders from Alex. The book is a lot of fun & well worth your time. I'm thankful the author added a message to the end of the previous book, Sojourn, & the beginning of this book. Having foreknowledge that Alex Racine, & other main characters in Alex's orbit, wouldn't play a direct part in the story made it easy to sit back & enjoy, rather than anticipating his arrival. While the knowledge of Alex's absence could easily be gleaned from reading reviews, the author's provided plan for the story made the absence less vexing. Grover Gardner, as always, does a fantastic job bringing the story to life. Having gotten dependent on Gardner's interpretation of this series I'm a bit apprehensive about the next title. Perhaps, approaching SADE's in the same manner Alliance was approached, without expectations, will help.

Approach without expectations..!
