I love James Herriot

Having been a lover of animal stories for several years, I picked up a copy of one of Herriot's books at a thrift shop. Since then I have been hooked. Herriot's writing is terrific and his sense of humor is ageless. He has great insight into human nature and his ability to put that into words makes him a writer worth reading and/or listening to.

"All Things Bright and Beautiful" is definitely worth the listening time. I have been taking Mr. Herriot with me in the car when I am out driving. His stories are perfect for that. They are not so complicated that I can drive and easily listen, and also light-hearted, sometimes sad, and really entertaining.

The narrator of his books, Christopher Timothy, is also excellent. He has the ability to give Herriot, his friends and the local people of Daroby (sp?) perfect voices. I have in the past had trouble understanding British accents, but Timothy makes it easy.

I plan on listening to the entire series.

Herriot is Golden!

Herriot's works are Masterpieces! Each one is a testimony to a Great Veterinarian who is challenged with many situations. Some are easy to deal with, some were frustrations due to lack of pharmaceutical resources and discovery. But through it all, Herriot raises the bar for Vets Worldwide. He has been my Hero since I opened his first book 45 years ago! An amazing Man who walked an amazing path in his lifetime. 😊

Absolutely wonderful. Loved the narrator’s multiple voices. This book is so poetic, but made me laugh and cry. Great stories. Would recommend to anyone.

Very nice listen and beautifully narrated. I love to hear the stories of a new veterinarian and his wife. Their lives as he begins his career and life as a new husband.

Brilliant writing, brilliant narration. This audio book is the perfect marriage of good writing and talented narration. I find myself wiping away tears, or bursting into laughter as I listen. What a beautiful combination is the loving writing of James Herriot and the skillful reading of Christopher Timothy! I wish I could visit Yorkshire, although now I feel as if I'm already there.
