Elania has grown accustomed to life in the Underground City State of Neftasu, sharing a home with Yolani inside the refurbished Aetherhart's Artifice.

But not all is as calm as appears on the surface. Events inside and out of the city have pushed the Magistry, the city’s council of powerful wizards, to enact a sweeping set of reforms.

Some of which the duo is directly responsible for.

Not all are pleased by the changes, and the iron fist of the Magistry and the City Guard is heavy.

The dark cult that summoned Elania to Eladu still runs free, and the Lightbringer order has been roused by the loss of one of their divine artifacts.

Yolani finds that her love for artifice can't replace the hole in her heart. Yet maybe there is someone for her that shall help mend it.

With unrest, rogue governmental agencies, and the threat of a looming crusade on the horizon hanging over them, there is only one way Elania and Yolani will manage to navigate the perils swirling around them.

By relying on each other...

…and pressing against boundaries of [Power] and Artifice never intended for the hands of mortals.

This book had fantastic fights and a struggle of epic proportions to overcome. The author blended the scenes together beautifully and if you’re in the mood for power scaling and good fight sequences this will absolutely deliver.

Decent Read

overall love the books so far... But during the conclave raid alonia, for some reason, did not bring the box of mana shards that the evil monks had given her.. not explained why but according to the book they were quite powerful. and during the fighting she was talking about watching her power usage.. not absorbing the monks she killed??? I mean just early in the book she killed a Dood just for touching yalonia... you'd think she do Everything in her power to get her back... she's absorbed people in the past for MUCH less. Just do not understand these plot holes.

very good, some issues

The second book manage to have cute relationship, bad ass and life and death battles, and not much else. The world isn't explore as much and there nothing that stand out. But the male narrator actually has more range this time, as well as the female narrator being great. Its overall entertaining enough of a listen.

Fun chaotic mess

There relationship in book 2 is so cute, and heartwarming. One of the best parts of the book. The action was great too. The voice acting once again was top notch.

Cute relationship

First, I would like to give props to Hannah Schooner and Giancarlo Herrera. You both did a fantastic job. Different characters with different voices all lent life to the story. I couldn't quite finish this one, but the only reason I stayed around is how well you guys did at keeping it engaging.

Now for the story itself....
The story lost itself somewhere. I don't know where exactly, I can't put my finger on it. I look back to the beginning premise of the story of MC being summoned to another world, the classic Isekai setup. It worked pretty well, the world was fun with its essences and system, but in this arc of the story.... it just feels like the author ran out of outline and just started running from one trope to the next. Rather than trying to tell a coherent and immersive story, we just run from one scene to the next, with little to no connection between them. I literally would be listening to this story, get distracted for a few seconds and feel like I missed an entire chapter or two because of the jarring transition.

I can't be certain since it isn't tagged, but I am pretty sure that this is written with AI. I certainly am not going to pick up the next book.

One trope to the next

The combat and action scenes are excellent and would’ve let this book be great. However the story has a lot of cliche plot points that don’t add much to the story.

The first book was better, but this one has its high points.

Bias disclaimer. I've recently come to find that I don't enjoy.Lesbian couples and bucks. There has been media where i've enjoyed lesbian activity, But attends to come off As grating in books so far.

I do have one world building complainty regardless of my bias involving Lesbians in this mythos. Even though same sex couples were described as being viewed as worse than child abuse, And henry had a decent crush yolana, Henry didn't bat an eye at accepting the Pairing. There should have been at least a little Hemming and hawing about it. Maybe he uses his broken heart as an excuse. To do a heroic sacrifice and then is unwillingly teleported. And so he has to go on to examine and Deal with his unrequited emotions and the worst than child abuse viewed lesbianism That his best friend and crush is now partaking in.

Also I liked henry and yolan as a couple better, parts of that is my disclosed bias, But I think I'd prefer Is that pairing even without the aforementioned bias

mostly good

The book felt lifeless and repetitive, with the AI seemingly recycling the same elements over and over with slight variations. On top of that it struggled to maintain consistency in story elements and relationships, leading to abrupt, anticlimactic moments that should have been pivotal. It lacked the creative spark of a real author, making for a bland and forgettable experience. - this review was assisted by ChatGPT
