Publisher's summary

"In time, you will realize you have a more profound heritage than most understand

One Celestials know well.

Trust in your instincts, and do not be so quick to judge or believe every monster that comes forward to engage you. ... as you try to navigate this new, blooming world you are stepping into, know that you hold more influence and power than most can fathom."

Sora is a rich, bullied 15-year-old high school girl, but her bullies are about to learn that they messed with the wrong girl. Fiercely loyal to her friends, Sora will reconnect with Wendy, her best friend since childhood, and build up a friendship circle of broken girls. She will help them rise out of their troubled situations since she understands what it is like to be hopeless.

As her 16th birthday draws near, she will meet new friends from myths and legends, learn more about her family history, and fight the evil plots that have been circling her for over three years. She'll learn that her mother didn't die in childbirth but is a powerful fox spirit, which will open up a desire to learn more about her mysterious family lineage.

Having powers most can only dream of, Sora will need every ounce of it (and maybe a little help from friends) to handle the challenges that are to come.

Join Sora in a quest to overcome her misfortune, help other downtrodden girls believe in themselves, and discover more about this vast universe of myths and legends.

Intriguing Story

I found this book to be intriguing but also a little long. I love how the author built up a world that consisted of magic mixed with myth and science fiction. The story is very detailed and full of humor, drama, suspense, and twists. The narration was good and brought the characters to life. I received this book for free upon my request. I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased review here of my own volition.

intriguing characters. great world building

very unique world. good world building characters. you can't help caring about plenty of twists and turns. things are not always what they seem. narrator did a good job overall that were some volume issues every once in a while where it would suddenly get really loud. after a few minutes it would go back to normal plowed through this book in 2 days. can't wait for the next one to come out in the series

Very enjoyable

A coming of age story for a bullied girl. Our heroine's world is almost shattered when she comes to the crashing revelation (for a teenage girl) that she's not actually the center of the universe and the sole character with a backstory. Her bullies have issues of their own, and with kindness, courage and enough largesse of heart to shown forgiveness, it looks like everyone is about to board the SS Growing Up towards a really interesting future.

Then again, how does that chinese curse goes... yeah, things are gonna get a lot more interesting soon.

I was mildly triggered by some of the bullying, but then again its the almost-standard highschool experience nowadays. Some of the story felt a bit predictable, yet there's only so many ways to write about universal themes. On the other hand, saying 'some' is not the same as saying 'all' or even 'most'. Not at all! I enjoyed the surprises along the weay and oddly enough, find myself hoping the little goblin restaurant has a bright future ahead of itself.

I found the narration adequate, though the male voice actor seems to have been stretched a tiny bit too thin by having to voice too many characters, and sometimes they sound a little bit too similar to one another. Beyond that, it is very enjoyable.

The female voice actress has a truly amazing range since she managed to do even MORE characters and keep them distant, specially considering how oftentimes she had to switch on a dime.

An interesting read

This was an interesting story. At first I didn't think I was going to like it but it quickly grew on me and I ended up enjoying the story. It has a lot of interesting & intriguing characters. I found it to be very entertaining and full of twists. It was well written and once you get reading, the story will suck you in and keep the pages turning. I listened to the audiobook and the narration was fantastic.
Sora Moore is the typical high school teenager from Miami Beach. Her prproblem is that she is being bullied at school. Her father is very rich and is away from home for long periods of time. Her bullies do a lot of hateful things to her including cutting off her hair and even taking her clothes and making her wear a towel. They often force her to spend money on them and taunt her with vicous words. Sora wishes her mother was alive to help her with this but alas, with her mother gone & her dad off working she has no parent available. She has to rely on her house staff to help her through it. Her therapists she has had have just given her medication after medication which doesn't help Then one day things start to change. Sora gets a new therapist who believes Sora's words and starts to ween her off her meds. Then Sora becomes very bold and starts to fight back with words. Then her transformation starts and her magic becomes available to her. She has desire magic that prooves to be very useful. She has to glamor herself to hide her ears & tail. She believes she has turned into a kitsune. Then the world of mosters reveals itself to her. Sora helps her friend Howie with his succubus girlfriend, she learns about monster restaurants and even a monster council. As Sora infiltrates a monster council meeting, she learns a lot about her bullies. Karrie isn't being a super bully, she is being misled by Jenny her right hand. Karrie is a type of wolf shifter and not the mastermind. Instead Jenny is influencing her to do horrible things and promote bad behaviors. The real trouble is Eric, Karrie's older brother. He leads the pack of wolves and Sora knows that he is in on Jenny's evil plan. When So=a's dad does come home he learns far more than he expected to. Sora has learned that she is a very powerful founder and her magic is stronger than she thinks. She also learns her mom is alive and she will meet her soon. So with her dad and a couple others they must rescue Sora' new therapist Mary and Wendy Sora's best friend from Jenny the true bullie. One of the friends is Nillie who was one of my favorite characters. She was very interesting and deadly.
A great read for anyone ×ho loves a wide variety of monsters and tryly awful villians.

Fun story with interesting characters

There is a wide cast of well designed characters and they are fun and quirky with their own interesting and unique voices that come through in the writing and narration. However, it does feel like the characters are too weak for the power level of the story the author really wants to tell involving universe level secrets. I look forward to seeing how the author bridges the gap between the weakness of the main cast and the overwhelming might of the forces that surround them.
