A Sweeping Tale That Felt a Little Long

How many times can Captain Ramsey get a cock stand for Maren? Read the book to find out.

A Ship of Bones and Teeth is a dark romantasy with pirates, mermaids, and magical beings. It follows Maren, a siren/mermaid who wants to be a human. 10 years later she regretted that decision as she was abused by Prince Eric. Now captured by Captain Ramsey, a pirate who is oddly without scars, she finds herself again. She is also very gullible and Ramsey is very horny. Both are very bloodthirsty. The story is a sweeping tale with a majestic world that Karina Halle created. I had a lot of fun with this book, but there were parts that seemed a little long. Still, it’s a good read!

A wonderful spin!!

If you love Pirates of the Caribbean and Little Mermaid this is the book for you!!! I loved the story line with the plot twists with a happy ending! The steam is perfect!!

Little mermaid meets pirates of the Caribbean but dark!

Epic adventure the whole way through. There are some dark themes but that’s to be expected with pirates involved. I love Marens arc and Ramsey is the best!!

It is a Little Mermaid retelling and an enemies to lovers romance plot.
I was not a fan of the woman reading, she was hard to understand in several chapters and her volume would get so quiet I could barely hear the audio.

Wanted a younger female voice

I’m not sure if it was a choice but I found the tenor of the female role sounded like an old woman instead of a young 20-something like the character.

This was a great dark romance. You’ve got Sirens, Pirates, Fiesty FMC, Morally Grey MMC, Found family, Little Mermaid Retelling, Spicy, Captive, enemies to lovers, HEA.

The narration was fantastic, I really enjoyed both narrators. This was a new author and new narrators for me.

Wow! Imaginitive Retelling!

A super dark retelling of the Little Mermaid, mixed with Pirates of the Caribbean and a dash of Blade.

The FMC trades her voice to a sea witch for legs so she can marry Aeric, but that's where the fairy tale ends. She is left regretting her decision, and dealing with some rather severe consequences.

That's when tall, dark, and dangerous finds her. They have issues born of tragedy and heartbreak. They use each other to heal, and find a new path, but not without cost.

All in all - well worth the listen. Gave the performance 4 stars only because the female narrator was very quiet at times.

I really enjoyed the alternate options for the Little mermaid retelling.

I really enjoyed this book I thought everything was well written. I think some of the language used during some of the spicy scenes was a little intense for me. but that's just a personal preference thing I prefer when it's a little bit more metaphorical than like right in your face. but the scenes were were spicy and good. The one thing I didn't really like about the book was the narrator you know they depict that the main characters are like 26 and 35 but the narrators they chose to use had very old sounding voices like they were in their '60s. I would really love to see this book put into a graphic audio I think it would be amazing and I would love to hear it with a younger cast. I really loved the alternating POVs in the fact that they had different narrators for each POV. I'd love to reread the book I thought it was very good it will be on my favorites list for sure.

Witty Banter

I must say I was shocked at how quickly this book pulled me in. Being a retelling of The Little Mermaid, I had to give it a try. This book put a dark fantasy twist on the story we’ve all known growing up. This was my first dark romance fantasy book and honestly did not disappoint!


I loved the banter between Maren and Ramsay. The story was full of emotions and twists that had my bingeing this audiobook to see what happens.

Also, who doesn’t love a happy ending?

Great story line nice twist on little mermaid

Very much enjoyed this audio read my first listen with erotic literature . Was hooked after chapter 4 great novel and steamy scenes. Love the twist on little mermaid, the original story always felt so bland to me so I do enjoy this unique story line. This one is So much better! Fantastic work!
