Idealistic views without tools

I had high hope for this book. But, I did not find it helpful in anyway. Talks about the suppression of woman, inequality, taboos and abuse. This is absolutely nothing new or revolutionary! This is what we have face and continue facing in our society. Then goes into talking about an idealistic liberation without giving guidance or tools. Perhaps this is intentional, as I understand there is a course about this book. Sorry not for me.

disappointed

I have long enjoyed Dr. Shefali's work and was so excited to see this new title. Not much new insight in this book for people familiar with Buddhist thought. What made me take long breaks from listening accompanied by deep eye rolls, was the degree to which Dr. Shefali projects her own life onto the reader/listener. And a lot of old school BS about how men are wired to cheat blah blah blah. She tries to backpedal it a bit in that chapter, but it just sounds like she's way behind on women's sexuality and men's desires. Oversimplified, limiting, and unfair to both sexes.

DAUGHTERS AND MOTHERS NEED THIS: LIFE 101 SKILLS!

Truly the most valuable truths about our bodies, our minds and how it reflects in your soul and life decisions. I loved how it was written and spoken. WELL DONE!

This would be an excellent coming of age gift for young ladies to talk about with their mothers. They both would enhance their personal development and increase their bond as empowered women in a male dominant environment.

A+...5 ☆☆☆☆☆ One of my favorite finds with the most valuable life skills explained in layman's terms...THANK YOU!

Exactly what I needed

This books release was synchronistic. I approached an area in my relationship that brought up a lot of insecurities, feelings of low self worth, etc. I listened to this book in record speed because everything in it was exactly what I needed to hear to help handle the feelings of inferiority and self esteem issues I was facing. It helped to shine a light on a lot of the ways I am codependent in my relationship. I can’t thank you enough for this book, looking forward to integrating what I learned from Dr Shefali’s book into my life.

Love it, but embittered

What a great book. Especially for women that haven't started to awaken. Although, the writer is embittered and honestly a bit ridiculously pessimistic about human nature. There is so much truth, but once she starts to associate that with what is essentially nihilism it ruins the book.

No, Thank Yoj

I was excited to listen to this book as I’m going through an awakening of my own. The book starts off in a promising way, touching on how toxic masculinity and a patriarchal structure of society is harmful to all of those who walk in it and not just to women. But it is largely left at that, a high-level overview with an air of personal ranting. There are a few thoughts on how to break through the current structure but nothing inspiring or detailed enough to be a call to action. As I continued listening what I found here is hour upon hour of a scorned woman shaming those who do not wish to walk the same exact path as she. She simultaneously tells us to liberate ourselves from the current societal norms and to be authentic to our true selves, but that in order to do so we must also subscribe to her exact beliefs. This is not liberation, it’s not authenticity and it certainly is not an awakening. The author gave a warning at the beginning that the book was not meant to be comfortable, and so when I started experiencing strong feelings of discomfort while listening I decided I would try to push through and remain open minded to the thoughts and ideas that were being presented to me. I am a little more than halfway through the book and I will not be continuing. If this was a physical copy of the book I would be returning it and requesting my money back. This is not a book about how to have your own radical awakening and become your authentic self, but rather a story of how Dr. Shefali experienced her own awakening and found her authenticity. Her ego is banging on her chest and roaring from the top of her mountain and telling us all that we must do the same as she has in order to be awakened. One woman’s authenticity does not apply universally as this book makes it sound like it must. As a reader what I felt is as though I was being shamed to feel that I will never be awakened until I also agree with Dr. Shefali’s way of life. This is an incredibly narrowminded point of view, and there is nothing enlightening, awakening or inspiring about it.

Beautiful and insightful!

Encouraged me to look at my and society’s imperfections in a new, forgiving way. Highly recommend for any woman looking to articulate complex(seemingly irrational) feelings.

Holy shit

Redundant and all about trauma caused by the hands of men. Good hell. I really love her other books but this ridiculous. I can’t even finish the damn thing.
