Warning!!
Do NOT read the review titled "A Mother and/or Woman's Worst Nightmare"!!! She gives away the whole book, and even the twist at the end!!

Seeing what we want to see.
Four stars for a book of surprises. And the biggest surprise is saved for the end of the book. My heart and soul ached while reading A Mother's Confession, realizing I know people who are so similar to each of the characters. I found that scary while fearing there were times I should have spoken up. Seems each main character had good and bad traits, and I found myself understanding why. I recommend this book for almost everyone.

Much Better Than Expected
This story and narration were excellent! Never imagined the twist at the end. Although the story did move a little slow, I really enjoyed Brigid Lohrey's performance of each character, and the story unfolded in a way that held my attention and interest. Also, was quite interesting to see the multiple ways that some of the characters used denial as a coping mechanism. The twists did not feel contrived and were well integrated into the story. Emotionally gripping. Sad story, yet shows hope for the future. Don't give up. Hang in there, because you won't be sorry.

Wow! Just wow!
This book really hit home. I was involved in an abusive relationship, though no where as severe as this one. I could really relate to the struggles to try to make sense of a relationship that continued to go wrong regardless of what you did. I will listen to this one again, and probably again. Should I suspect someone is in an abusive relationship, I will give them this book. Excellent story and excellent narrator. Thanks, Audible!

Ending I Never Saw Coming
The twist of the story surprised me. the narration at times was very whiney and annoying, but also very appropriate to the character being portrayed. I think the narration really contributed to a character in really did not like.

Surprisingly Good- First read from this Author!
I had never heard of Kelly Rimmer before. I don't know why- I love her genre of fiction and I am baffled as to why I haven't read anything by her yet- but it's never too late! 'A Mother's Confession' was a very good listen. I loved the main character and I could even empathize with the villain in the novel because she was a mom who wanted to protect her son and feel that her son is perfect.
The book is clever in narration. A recently widowed mom tells the story of her marriage and relationship, and alternates the story with the widow's mother-in-law. The mother-in-law tells the story from her point of view. The characters were so real and raw, and Rimmer draws feeling and thought provoking revelations from reader. I cried throughout some of the scenes and I was blown away by the ending. I didn't see the ending coming- but it really tied up the story well.
The moral to the story is- we see what we want to in this life, and sometimes it takes other people to make us see what's been in front of us all along.
Great book- definitely would recommend.

A beautiful, yet heart breaking read
Words are difficult to express how I feel right at this moment. Such a beautifully written yet heart breaking read. A thought provoking book that touched my heart - silent tears rolled down my cheeks as I listened to the reality that was Olivia and Zoe's lives. A must read for every woman - a book that'll make you thankful for the lives we live, or a book that may just give you strength to live better lives for yourselves. Thank you so much @bookouture and Kelly Rimmer for this beautiful book.

Stay with it, especially if you've suffered abuse
I chose this because I've read her other books and I know she looks deeply and knowledgeably into the subject, plus I've suffered abuse and studied it myself.
I agree with other reviews, it does feel like it drones on a bit, but stay with it, all the detail is necessary , it's a cracking story.

Read the other reviews and thought I'd give it a go. Ploughed through, not really seeing why the raves reviews, BUT then i got it and some. What a book. I was planning to go out this morning but still too upset and moved to leave the house. Brilliantly performed and a horribly tragic story. Just use your credit. Go on. And brace yourself.

A twist to the tale
An intense and emotional story. Frustrating at times. Loved the different sides to the story. Excellent!

Battled through it … wish I hadn’t
Oh crikey this was a long slog. I worked out what had happened early on and waited for a twist. No twist. Awful characters. Grating narration didn’t help (the mums intonation was just awful).

Only real twist is the awful accent
This was supposed to be a thriller but it’s more like a sleeper. Slow and hard to get through. Only hung on to see if this ‘amazing twist’ redeemed it but alas - a waste of time and money. And the accents were all over the shop - English Irish Australian - couldn’t tell. Very disappointing.

Great story
Kelly rimmer doesn't disappoint .. maybe a bit long in parts .. but plays out well. And who doesn't love a plot twist!!
I think the voice artist was British putting on an Aussie accent .. so the character ivy in particular sounded like she was mocking the accent. Surely there would be an Aussie actress do the job? It didnt spoil it for me though still a good listen

It was a different story that I wasn’t sure I would. O out to listen to but the ending has a great twist

I couldn’t put it down
A beautifully written and heartbreaking story. Kelly Rimmer has a deep understanding of the workings of a mother’s mind and heart. A must-read.

Wow
Oh wow! What a heartbreaking and emotional novel. That twist literally had me in tears! Brigid did a good job narrating the two characters

Loving the twists in Kelly’s work
Well I didn’t expect that twist and I’m usually pretty good at predicting them. Probably my favourite Kelly Rimmer book to date.

Not my favorite from Kelly Rimmer
I almost gave up on this book several times. Ivy’s voice grated on me and I found the storyline of only 2 characters with alternating chapters tiresome. I loved “Before I let you go”

I Couldn't Stop Listening
I enjoyed the book right from the start. However, once I was a few chapters in, I couldn't put it down.
I did not see the final twists coming until they were upon me which made for a thrilling addictive read.
