Acerca de esta escucha

Instant New York Times best seller!

Inspired by the real-life heroine who saved thousands of Jewish children during WWII, The Warsaw Orphan is Kelly Rimmer’s most anticipated novel since her best-selling sensation, The Things We Cannot Say.

“Gripping... This one easily stands on its own.” (Publishers Weekly)

“Heart-stopping.” (Lisa Wingate, number-one New York Times best-seling author)

“A surefire hit.” (Kristin Harmel, number-one New York Times best-selling author)

In the spring of 1942, young Elzbieta Rabinek is aware of the swiftly growing discord just beyond the courtyard of her comfortable Warsaw home. She has no fondness for the Germans who patrol her streets and impose their curfews, but has never given much thought to what goes on behind the walls that contain her Jewish neighbors. She knows all too well about German brutality - and that it's the reason she must conceal her true identity. But in befriending Sara, a nurse who shares her apartment floor, Elzbieta makes a discovery that propels her into a dangerous world of deception and heroism.

Using Sara's credentials to smuggle children out of the ghetto brings Elzbieta face-to-face with the reality of the war behind its walls, and to the plight of the Gorka family, who must make the impossible decision to give up their newborn daughter or watch her starve. For Roman Gorka, this final injustice stirs him to rebellion with a zeal not even his newfound love for Elzbieta can suppress. But his recklessness brings unwanted attention to Sara's cause, unwittingly putting Elzbieta and her family in harm's way until one violent act threatens to destroy their chance at freedom forever.

From Nazi occupation to the threat of a communist regime, The Warsaw Orphan is the unforgettable story of Elzbieta and Roman's perilous attempt to reclaim the love and life they once knew.

Lo que los oyentes dicen sobre The Warsaw Orphan

Con calificación alta para:

The Audiobook Tells A Heartbreaking Yet Captivating Story Set Against The Backdrop Of World War Ii And The Holocaust In Poland. It Follows Compelling Characters As They Navigate Unimaginable Hardships, From The Horrors Of The Warsaw Ghetto To The Struggles Of The Polish Resistance. While The Narrative Is Gripping And The Storytelling Beautiful, Some Reviewers Found The Pacing Slow At Times And Certain Characters Underdeveloped. The Overarching Themes Of Survival, Resilience, Love, Sacrifice, Family, And Friendship Shine Through, Making This A Powerful Work Of Historical Fiction That Resonated Deeply With Many Listeners Despite Some Criticisms Of Predictability And A Disappointing Ending For Some.

A story to listen to again

This story was enthralling, but organized to keep track of all the characters well. Great story, narrated well.

Decent Sequel to The Things We Cannot Say

Not sure why this isn’t listed as the sequel to “The Things We Cannot Say”. It should have been.

The story is well written and flows well. Plenty of edge of seat…what’s going to happen next moments. The narration was done well with the exception of the male voice. Never really could connect with his character as well as the female narration.

This should be heard though. The story is too important to be missed.

For Poland, War never really ended

A quote of sorts that sums up the plight of the WWII Poles. The Nazis finally left only to be replaced by the brutal Red Army. This historical narrative is well researched and written. I didn’t like the male voice at the beginning but ended with a find affection of this young man. ALL well done!

Emotional

Such a profound story of the triumph of human spirit despite emotional, spiritual and physical suffering in the very worst of conditions.

And we must always remember

I loved this book. It took me back to a time that I was not here for but I heard about from my grandfather. And he fought during World War II. The atrocities during World War II must always stay with us. If we do not remember our history history will be repeated.

Well-done story continuation

Loved that this book continues the story of Emilia from Rimmer's The Things We Cannot Say. This book was great, although I liked The Things We Cannot Say slightly better.
