His easy going not giving a s..... attitude fits the story.

Meh
This was a short listen but I'm not sure it was time well-spent. I like the Jack Daniels character but not in this incarnation. The mystery was a bit of a yawn.
The narrator was okay. I mean, I didn't hate him. I prefer the narrator in book one though.
This listen was just 'meh.'

Can't Beat Death
This is the second book by John Holt that I have listened to, and this one is very enjoyable. I thought the narration was fitting, and the performance easy to listen to. I loved how the author was able to incorporate some very classic quotes into the book as well. The setting with a stable for the background of this book was original as well. I loved how Jack Daniels was making his bets, as who killed the horse and caused the other incidents. Then again, Jack is not a betting man. Only thing you are certain on is death and taxes. The chapter titles were spot on with the story. I would definitely listen to more books by this author and narrator. I requested this review copy audiobook and have voluntarily written this review.

Nicely done.
Well written short detective story.
Excellent Performance .
A beautiful reminder of Hollywood style detective story with the jazz background.
Only wish it was longer but beside that there is no negative that I can find with this creation.

Chicanery in the paddock
Another great read by John Holt, with those who like a who done it this is one of the best I look forward to reading more of his books just so happens I have a couple more of his books they’re great five stars to the author and the narrator.

Quick fun!
Sometimes a short story perfectly fills time gaps while in the car. The stable/horses setting was really cool and I find horse enthusiast to be a lot like this. I would certainly recommend!

I love that this case is about horses. That is always a favorite for me. And horse people are ruthless. This case is no different. Jack must decide if their is foul play involved in the death of a race horse. This was super fun listen. The narration was nice and easy to listen to.

Short, but good detective story
This is my second John Holt book. Both have been well written. These are short detective stories. I will read more books by this author.
I prefer the narration in this book.

I didn't like that Jack was so negative right off the bat, until he went to the site and spoke with employees. Not very open minded for a detective Jacko!!! smh! Jack was lucky enough to stumble on the rightclue and follow it. Jack needs to step up his game, because he seems a bit inept. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a great job.

Excellent !
Well written short detective story.
Excellent Performance .
A beautiful reminder of Hollywood style detective story with the jazz background.
Only wish it was longer but beside that there is no negative that I can find with this creation.
Recommended !!

Jack does it again!
Another good read from John, The Jack Daniels books are easy listening and short enough to read at one sitting, although short in length they are not short of action. Miguel Rodriguez is a good reader and easy to understand even for us across the pond. Highly recommended

Enjoyed it but not as much as 1 and 3
The writing again was amazing and you can disappear into the story. I did find the narration to start with very difficult to listen to, but it got better the more into the book and about half way through really enjoyed the narration. I did enjoy books 1 and 3 more but this was very good just not as good as those two which were brilliant.
Jack Daniels is a very interesting character and cant wait to see how his story develops.
I was given this audible book in return for an honest review which I have done.

Horse Tail
The narrator Miguel Rodriguez is excellent.

Great little story
A much better story than the first in the series, Candy Man, and thankfully a different, much better narrator. An entertaining read with a well thought out plot and good characters.
