Frankenstein by Mary Shelley

In this tale of bio-engineering gone horribly wrong, Victor Frankenstein uses body parts of the dead to bring a creature to life. When Frankenstein abandons his experiment in horror, the Monster embarks on a quest that results in the ultimate revenge.

Dracula by Bram Stoker

In this timeless gothic vampire romance, young solicitor Jonathan Harker must shield his fiancé, Mina, from the predations of the insatiable Count Dracula. Mysteriously drawn to the Count, Mina, however, struggles to break free from the psychic grip of the mysterious dark stranger from Transylvania.

Dracula starts at Ch. 32

It wasn’t bad. Probably would have been more fun with a more dynamic performance. Reminds me of a black & white detective movie with narration 😅. It isn’t but that’s the type of voice and feel I was reminded of.

Read it for a class - personally not my genre.

Wish they would have labeled chapters. They didn’t start Frankenstein with the title so I couldn’t figure out what I was listening to for a while. Thankfully I compared it to other sample audios.

Stars off for not labeling and not starting first audio with title and author. Otherwise not bad.

Not bad.

In my opinion, the story of Frankenstein and the reading of it were fine-good. I did not feel my immersion into the story or passion from the reader.

Dracula was presented excellently. I was eager to listen whenever possible. I preferred this book over Frankenstein.

Dracula was outstanding. Frankenstein was good.

It was nice to get both of these together as I wanted to listen to one or the other. Dracula was definitely the superior book in my opinion, but both were entertaining.

Both good, Dracula's better

It took me awhile to finish both books (I am not the fastest reader or listener), but I can honestly say I enjoyed every minute.

I am a Universal Monster and Hammer Horror fan girl. I read both Frankenstein & Dracula during my college years (how I wish I had Audible back then!) The former was mandatory reading and has since become my favorite horror classic for various reasons - and thus, opened up a rabbit hole which lead me to reading the latter. Though, I will admit to preferring some of the film, comic, Manga and other media adaptions of Dracula better than Stoker's novel, I still respect it.

Mr. Gildart Jackson is a fantastic narrator and voice actor. I previously heard him preform in the English adaptation of one my favorite anime (ironically, Hellsing Ultimate), and he is the sole reason I chose this version of Frankenstein & Dracula out of handful that were available on Audible. Needless to say, I was NOT disappointed!

Wonderful rendition of two Gothic Horror classics!

Pretty good deal. Two classics together. Having only been exposed to the Hollywood versions of these stories, I was impressed at the major difference in heart and soul and overall feel of both of these Stories. Frankenstein I found to be a bit whiney for my taste, but Dracula was really good and not at all what I expected. Well worth the credit.

two for one!
