The thrilling adventure based on the acclaimed Star Trek: Picard TV series!

Starfleet was everything for Cristóbal Rios…until one horrible, inexplicable day when it all went wrong. Aimless and adrift, he grasps at a chance for a future as an independent freighter captain in an area betrayed by the Federation, the border region with the former Romulan Empire. His greatest desire: to be left alone.

But solitude isn’t in the cards for the captain of La Sirena, who falls into debt to a roving gang of hoodlums from a planet whose society is based on Prohibition-era Earth. Teamed against his will with Ledger, his conniving overseer, Rios begins an odyssey that brings him into conflict with outlaws and fortune seekers, with power brokers and relic hunters across the stars.

Exotic loves and locales await—as well as dangers galore—and Rios learns the hard way that good crewmembers are hard to find, even when you can create your own. And while his meeting with Jean-Luc Picard is years away, Rios finds himself drawing on the Starfleet legend’s experiences when he discovers a mystery that began on one of the galaxy’s most important days.

I am an avid reader and listener of Star Trek books and audiobooks from across all the series and movies. I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed this book! The performance of Robert Petkoff is fantastic and engaging like usual and John Jackson Miller asserts once again that he is one of the best Star Trek novel writers there is. It would be great for Ledger to show up in the live action Picard series! She has a personality that makes you appreciate her character and I laughed audibly several times at her quips. I would recommend this book to any Star Trek fan. It’s a solid 12+ hours of enjoyment and worth every penny!

Best in the Picard series so far!

This book really kept me entertained every step of the way.

The once Star fleet officer really seemed like he was always stuck in one misfortune but in reality it was just a huge spider web of deception created by greed.

Thrilling Ride

I probably read close to 100 Star Trek books maybe more, but something special about this one. It was a fun, exciting funny adventure, following a great character and bringing serval more along for the ride for us to enjoy while also giving us some great throwbacks.

I would love to read more such adventures inspired by this or a part two,

Also what a great book to help shine a bright light moving forward after the old book (litverse) universe retired for the generation of new trek while still giving a respectful nod to Trek of old.

We are in good hands and I have nothing but love for this new generation of trek books and the authors that produce them, I can’t wait for the next adventure.

Thrusters on full. 🖖🏼

Possibly one of the best Star Trek books ever

This book was excellent! Ironically, Rios wasn't my favorite character in Picard but this book provides a really good back story for his character which made me like him more. It also sets up the events in Picard really well. Paramount could actually make a whole new show based on this book and the adventures of Rios! I had to go back to the original star trek and watch the episode with the ioshions to really understand their characters. Brilliant to use that species. Really good listen.

Great back story for Rios!
