Elisa Sullivan is the only vampire ever born, and she bears a heavy legacy. After a sojourn with the North American Central Pack of shifters in the wilderness - where she turned a young woman into a vampire to save her life - Elisa returns to Chicago.

But no good deed goes unpunished. The ruling body of vampires, the Assembly of American Masters, is furious that Elisa turned someone without their permission, and they want her punished. When an AAM vampire is found dead, Elisa is the prime suspect. Someone else is stalking Chicago - and Elisa. She'll need to keep a clear head, and a sharp blade, to survive all the supernatural strife.

Contains mature themes.

Oh how I’ve been waiting to get this book in my hands! I was in no way disappointed either! Talk about a wild, twisty ride!

I adore Elisa and Conner. They’re both struggling to find their place, the right footing needed to prove to they are capable of taking on danger and coming out, mostly unscaved. You’d think by now the parental units would have figured this out. Lol but, parents will be parents.

Elisa has a lot on her plate. Juggling isn’t as easy as it could be with only one hand to hold the plates in place since her other hand has a sword in at the enemies throat. Both Elisa and Conner have to think fast and be sure about the moves they’re making, one wrong move...and their worlds come to a crashing halt.

Now, let’s just say, I’m definitely a huge fan and with each new book, the love for these characters grow! I can’t wait to see what Chloe has in store for us in the next installment!

Holy crackers!

A great story with another good mystery to solve. And Elisa is so a Sullivan & a Merit. I loved it!
Elisa has had an interesting childhood & now her adult life is just as adventurous as Merit & Ethan’s life in Chicago. But she was taught by the best & carries herself quite well. She’s definitely grown just in the time I met her in the first book.
As for Connor, he’s a wonderful match for her as he seems to know her better than she does at times. I like that he supports her & gives her the time & space she needs to live her life, her way. Plus with all the drama that surrounds her, how can her not want to be a part time of that. lol!
As for Lulu, I wish she would be more accepting of who she really is. Although I can respect her decision of not being a sorceress, I really think that she is missing that part of her that would make her whole. I would love to see her with Alexi, as he is a great guy. And she does seem to like cats a lot too. lol!
With respect to Theo, he’s just a great friendly guy. He really reminds me a lot of Jeff (from the Chicagoland Vampires l. He is a great character & would love to read a novella about a part of his life. I hope we get to see him in more in the next book or a novella that’s about his past.
The whole story was fun to listen too I really enjoy meeting the new characters in this book, & seeing how everyone interacts with each other. I hope we get to meet more interesting characters in the next book as well. They bring some very entertaining stories along with them.

Definitely their Daughter!

Solid first book that continues to expand, growth, and add depth of character relationships. My favorite kind “meet cute” is not really one. It’s one that starts with friendship and grows via the friendship. And their friends and family grow as well. I hope Lulu and Alexi will become more prominent. But I’m not tired of Elisa and Connor yet. She is so much better than either of her parents but all credit to them for raising her. And they are much more tolerable as parents than as protagonists. I really like that these books are actually made up of conversations between characters, rather than the typical fantasy romance that is just a stream of consciousness of the seemingly self-absorbed female protagonist surrounded somehow by nothing but men. I like that this book took a moment to let Elisa be a friend to Lulu. And I even laughed a few times more than in the first and second books. I hope that continues to grow as well. This was solidly a 4 and has potential if the series continues to grow like this to a 4-5. What a pleasure these characters are in a sea of terrible ones.

Teamwork

I absolutely love this series. Elisa and Connor are such a great pair. I love their connection, their banter, their strength. This book offered up a few different mysteries to solve. And the Super Sup Team did it again. You definitely won't want to miss this book. This book offers up action, sarcasm, and a little bit of romance. What a wonderful mix! I can't forget the narration. Suzanne Elise Freeman does an amazing job with this series. She has given the characters a voice! She does an amazing job!

Such a great series

Ms. Neill's writing is terrific. The stories are compelling, the characters think and get twisted in their relationships, and the books are just plain fun. Throw in some ethical issues and just enough sex and you have books for adults. The performance was terrific. I just love her books.

So Much Fun
