history/autobiography, always enjoyable

Much like Paul Harvey's The Rest of the Story, Mike Rowe's The Way I Heard it tells simple stories leading to often surprising endings as you real the person he's talking about is a person, often famous, with their own histories and lesser known adventures. combined with Mike's soothing baritone and charm and liberally sprinkled with stories from his own life, it kept me interested, even when I didn't find s particular topic or person all the interesting before.

Mike really makes you feel like a friend.

I was questionable about purchasing this book, but boy was I glad I did. I wondered how could a guy known for dirty jobs, be a possible be a good writer, but he is. It was even more engaging having Mike narrate his book, he had me wishing for more. I learned a lot things about Mike I never did know, we’re both from Maryland, always willing to try something new, and never afraid of working hard and getting a little dirty. Thanks Mike, say hi to your Mom and Dad, they did a great job raising you.

Just what you have come to know and expect from M

If you have ever listened to Mike's Podcast, then this book has nailed it. I enjoy listing to Mike and I did enjoy the stories, and the brief snippets about Mike in the Book.
To be honest I would have liked to hear more about Mike himself, maybe plans or ambition, even things he would like to accomplish, like maybe politics, his foundation etc.

It is worth the read, and like I said I did enjoy the book

It was a great book for a long drive. Kept me thinking, wondering and laughing.

Thought Provoking, Funny, and New Perspectives

The stories got my mind working as I attempted to figure out who or what Mike was talking about. I gained new knowledge about historical events, figures and monuments I never knew before, and laughed at the humorous presentation of these new facts. hearing the connections made between the story and Mike's own experiences just goes to show how much one can learn from a story and apply it within their own life. Great read and listen for anyone with a curious mind.
