I have previously tried to read the classic "Myths and legends of ancient Greece and Rome", but found it too dry to enjoy said myths. Stephen Fry's retelling of pretty much the exact same myths are so full of life and believable that I was transfixed to this book.

A wonderful addition to the tradition of the telling of ancient mythological stories. I highly suggest if you are even slightly curious about the old Hellenic world, their religion and beleifs!

A Superb Retelling

I’m new to Audiobooks and have only listened to about five or so. This book was amazing from beginning to end! I’ve always been a lover of Greek mythology and to hear Stephen Fry’s rendition delivered by the man himself was delightful. Evoking emotions ranging from sorrow to absolute hilarity is a gift that always keeps on giving. My only complaint was that, like the titanomachy, this book also had to end.

Vehemently Enjoyed!!

The book is a lively retelling of Greek myths with some fun facts thrown in, like constellations and planets named after the Greek deities. The author puts a modern spin on the myths. He acknowledges the weirdness of some of the myths, like Zeus marrying his sister Hera. It's funny to have those thoughts verbalized whereas other books are a straight telling of the myths.

Modern Spin on Greek Myths

OMG (pun intended). Mr Fry has written a book that is not only factual but highly entertaining. His narration is spot on. I doubt I can now answer every trivia question that pops up on Greek Gods, but at least I can have a discussion about them. Highly recommend
