Publisher's summary

There's a new rumor in town. Someone has discovered an item that proves life on other planets exists, and they've been hiding it on a base called Zone 91, the most secret place on Earth.

Cassie and the other Animorphs already know about life on other planets. Too well. Their enemies the Yeerks will try to access Zone 91, to find out if what's there will threaten their mission to conquer to the planet. So the Animorphs decide to pay Zone 91 and the Yeerks a little visit. But what they discover is not at all what they expect.

Great narration as usual, so-so story

Cassie gets stuck with a lot of throw-away stories in the series...This one is amusing, but doesn't add much to the overall story or offer much character development.

Still, narration is wonderful as usual with these books!

LOVED EVERY MINUTE!!

I have been in love with this series since I was 12 years old when it first came out and there are many of the books that are about terrible battles and moral dilemmas, but this one is just fun! I love the 90’s pop culture references. Rachel, at one point, mentions Dr. Carter/Noah Wiley. Never really having watched a lot of TV medical dramas very much I thought maybe it was a Grey’s Anatomy character, but then I remembered that nope, this is the 90’s! That’s a character from ER! I always felt that those pop culture references and actual names of restaurants and stores and celebrities added realism and authenticity to the premise that this alien invasion is real.

Love this book!

This is such an unconventional story even by Animorphs' whacky standards that I'm so pleased the series can pull it off. The silliness is tempered by real horror, and the reader does a great job with both moods.

Super cool!

I love Animorphs and I’ve been trying to read through them but learning there are audiobooks is like a dream. This is the first one I listened to and the narrator did a very good job! She has a nice voice and it fits Cassies very well.

Moments where she is voicing sound effects don’t feel forced or childish, just the right amount of goofy.

When she is voicing other characters, she did pretty good! The only obvious thing I noticed was that sometimes she’d, as an example, use Marco’s voice on Rachel’s line. Nothing major.

The story itself isn’t groundbreaking. There is no real relevant plot points (as far as I can tell). By that I mean that is seems like a filler book. Doesn’t mean it isn’t still fun to read!

Overall, so cool these audiobooks are coming into existence!!!

Good

Not the best animorphs book, but still entertaining. Not super pertinent to the plot of the series, but still a fun ride ;)

Aversion to singing?

Why is it whenever there's something that's either melodic or rhythmic in the book, the narrators in this series just read it out robotically? "No more monkeys jumping on the bed" (book 29), the Mission Impossible theme (book 15), or in this book (14) Sisi reading out "Ta ta ta ta ta ta..." in monotone instead of singing the trumpet call that signifies the start of a horse race? It was especially egregious in this book.
