Actually offers real, step by step instructions

this book offers real step by step instructions for how to recover. it's not just a book of stories or a book that you can identify. it actually tells you what steps to take, when to take them and examples of how to do so successfully. Very good! I am in the recovery stage now and this book is helping. I really like that the speaker was calm. I also like how in the book she discusses that sometimes you may have to repeat some steps and it natural. also how she gives examples on how to deal with your mother's reactions as well as assessing your relationships with friends and significant others. very well thought out. glad I listened to it!

Very informative book. I think women struggling with manipulative and controlling mothers will find that this book will help them to look at their situation in new ways and recover from emotional and psychological abuse.

Yay me! I'm not crazy. I don't usually get excited

about an audio book, but, this one had me nodding my head and tearing up.

An absolute incredible book

I am the daughter of a narcissistic mother.. and this book hit EVERY nail on the head. I was lucky enough to experience “healing” prior to reading this book.. but still found incredible knowledge & wisdom to apply in my life. I highly recommend this! Very helpful and healing

Wonderful self-help book for daughters of overbearing narcissistic mothers. Teaches you how to disentangle from your mom and build your sense of self.

I loved the narrator’s voice, she has a very soothing, nurturing quality which makes her a great fit for the subject matter.

Best narration ever

This book was utterly enjoyable to listen to. Karyl McBride's narration felt like I was being hugged by a dear friend and guided along a path of deeper understanding and wisdom. Highly recommend this book if you have a mother.

The first book that got me

Loved. I am 57 years old and I have felt so alone and isolated dealing with this. My mother has destroyed my life. Yet, I had still tried to please her. I am finally free however, at a cost. I’ve lost my daughters to her lies and schemes. Friends as well. I start my new life alone however, and so very weird free. I pray for all those that as well deal with this. May I see you all on the other side!
